Missing roof rails/guttering

Hello,

Someone stole the roof rails off my 01 Grand Prix Special Edition. Because what is left is a deep valley where they used to be. There are large openings at the back and front, allowing rain water to run into the seal of both my front windshield and back window.

I'd like to get whatever regular 97-03 GPs have for the guttering, but I can't figure out what to search for and I haven't been able to find anything relevant. The Special Edition roof rails are too expensive for me right now.

Thank you for any help,
Chad

your best off finding a new set of roof rails, when the factory flat part is removed its pretty much trash i believe.

Water is only kept out of the car by the bead of sealant that holds the windshield in. Running around with an empty ditch so to speak, will allow more water to flow down around the urethane glass adhesive but the molding and outer lip of the glass trim are mainly to keep wind out, not water. There shouldn't be any fastener holes at all under the rail molding, possibly studs but any holes found are added.

My choice would be the link FFDP posted. Sounds high maybe to some, but removing and successfully re-taping salvage roof ditch moldings is easier said than done and chances are they or their paint are cooked. Paint those new ones with DupliColor then peel n stick, done.

Thanks guys. I'll go for the weatherstripping and keep it black. If that doesn't work then I'll get the GM ones. As long as I'm not going to have a rust problem or anything else that's caused by water in places it shouldn't stay, then I'll just fill the valley. Maybe I'll use some sealant at the ends to make myself feel better.

It seals at the end pretty well I haven't had any issues. I'd skip the factory moulding all together, and go roof rails again if you don't go the weather striping route. I just sold my rails for $140 they don't go for much anymore

Damn, you mean people are still getting roof rails stolen?
What is troublesome about the factory installed roof rails is how easily they can be removed.
Some folks have said that they have removed the roof rails and reinstalled them using a strong adhesive. That way no one could peel them off in seconds. But, I guess, if someone were to try to steal them and found them bonded strongly to the roof, they would just vandalize them.
Myself, I would be pissed if someone tried to steal roof rails or any part from one of my GP's.
Another upgrade that could be stolen easily would be Street Scene grilles, and also the GPO grilles.

I bought that weather stripping to fill in the guttering. Looks pretty good. Good enough for me at least. Thank you for the help. Nice and easy.
