My car is misfiring and im not sure why. there are two codes that came up p1361 and
p1362 i have replaced the ignition control module that did not change anything. And i have replaces spark plugs. in the past few days my heads up has been throwing numbers at random and trip computer says 0.0 mph and it blinks. can some give me any ideas what to do next.

this is what is going on watch the video

A blinking PCM means it is in programming mode...I had the SAME issue when ZZP could never figure out how to program an '03 PCM...did you just get a new PCM or something?

P1361 Ignition Control (IC) Circuit Low Voltage P1362 Ignition Coil C Secondary Circuit Malfunction i would say there is a short or a bad ground. take the module off the mounting plate and clean if there is any corrosion on that mounting plate, clean , lube with dialectric grease and re install module. if it persists it is definetly a short in something and since both those are hooked to the ign switch i would go there next.....let us all know thanks

Bluegtp91 i have never changed or touched the PCM. if i have a guy that has a tuner and knows what he is doing can get do a learn and will it might fix it?

mikedinthecity i took off the module replaced it and switched out coils with my buddy and nothing fixed it.

Can someone describe how to check the ICM PCM wires for the P1361 & P1362 codes we're getting now?

How do you remove either of them?

Thank you!

old ass thread, at least your searching.

the icm has the wires leading to the bumper side of it, in the middle is a bolt, like 6 mm its small. use electrical spray cleaner for both sides of the plug/socket, a dab of di-electrical grease cant hurt either.

the pcm ive never unhooked but its either got a bolt too or clips on the side of the plugs. its in the air filter box. un hook your battery before taking the pcm plugs off.

check your wires to the plugs for damage, cuts or cracked insulation, if you see bare wire, you just found the problem.

used pcm are rather cheap from a junk yard, or try morads. its worth a shot.

Thanks for the tips. There was some kind of misfiring without any codes. Indy mech. says try an ICM so we get an Autozone one - runs worse dies everywhere. Goto Chevy dlr. who flashes modules for available updates. Still skippy part throttle & gotta pedal like a dragster. Now showing P1361 P1362 codes. IDK, maybe we should put old ICM back on or not.?

Tomorrow it's getting plugs & wires. A salvage yard nearby seems to have a PCM & I'm thinking of getting it. It should work as long as it's from another 3.8L NA automatic if I inderstand things right.(?)

Might put the original ICM back on since there were no codes when it was on. IDK. Just kind of dazed and confused and grasping at straws because we can't afford much more garage bills.

THANKS Everyone!

No codes this morning, but part throttle skipping still there while driving to the garage for new plugs + wires.

My dic was flashing and had a bad hvac controler i would unplug it and everything went good car would still run fine with it plugged in

The shop put plugs and wires on. I drove it and there is a small part throttle skip, but I had the car wound up to about 4500 RPM on the highway with no codes. Tonight stone cold I hopped on the highway and got up to about 65 & the next thing I know the readout says something like Service Traction Control System - Reduced Engine Power Output. The car seemed to be running on a couple of cylinders, and stopped moving. I was lucky there was a weigh station right there. I tried plenty of gas pedal but nothing was happening besides misfiring. After a couple of key cycles it started up, and would rev, so I turned off Traction Control and limped it off the next exit to a parking lot. Tomorrow I'll hitch up my scan tool to see why the engine light is back on.

This sucks.

Hmm, maybe the APP or the TB is dying.

Do you mean accelerator pedal position sensor? Is that the same as throttle position sensor? Tb I assume is throttle body.

Edit:
SHEEYIT!, I see it's not the same thing. I'm having a bad month. The car, the cold, and the weather ALLSUCK!
