mileage going down

Other than a heavy foot, spark plugs/wires (mine are new) why would the mileage on Halfassery be dropping? Seems to be down about 2 mpg since we bought it.

I was wondering about different fuels.....MAF I can check. The 02 sensor "looks" new.

Looks new from the outside, but on the inside is what counts. If it got carbon buildup in it, it needs to be replaced. If it hasn't been replaced in the last 75000 miles, it needs to be replaced. They get lazy.

oh, and dont put full trust into the dic ave mileage. its not 100%.

the only way to really know you miles per gallon is to fill the tank, note your miles, run it down to low, then re fill the tank, now take the miles driven and gallons you just put in to figure out your mpg. simple division.

Yep, that's the way I've been checking since the DIC is showing 2mpg less. I find it to be pretty accurate.

do the math, you'll see a difference. ive done it, its not close at all. off by 3 to 4 mpg.

cold air, warming it upin the mornings all kill the mpg on the dic. may just be normal.

I've also been wondering about the T Stat. The car runs at 180 deg. I think I read that they do better at 220?

put a 195 in there, the car may not be warming up enough and its staying in closed loop, and killing mpg.

your engine wants to be at 210 deg's.

The AeroForce always shows 180 degrees when the car is hot. I'll try a new t-stat.

If I put a 195 in, that will make it run at 220?
