Miata's: Do you hate them or like them? (A opinion thread)

Say what you will, but I miss my old 01 SE. Close ratio 6spd, 50/50 weight distribution, lowered on bilstiens, torsen LSD... I had 2 friends trade me cars on random weekends so they could go play on the curvy roads, 1 was had a Saleen, the other a 02 SS Maro. Neither were setup for cornering like my go-kart was.
Pic of me taken by a friend who stopped traffic lol

I got alot of hateraid for driving it by people who had never been in one. Once I took them for a drive and drifted a couple corners they changed the tune quickly. So light and agile, intake, exhaust, and a tune made a small difference, I could only imagine the boosted cars and how they drove.

If you get a chance, take one for a test drive. There is a reason its the #1 roadster for the past several years.

I'm not a fan of the newer bodystyles... My aunt had one of the Mazdaspeed mx-5's, it was a LOT of fun, but I hated the way it looked.

First gen miata or bust.

Meh The only thing I like off the first gen is the door handles, hate pop-up lights, the plastic rear window was a horrid design and always tear, much smaller but not much lighter, but they do have a nice aftermarket market for fun go faster parts.

I like the newest 2011-2014 body style, but not a fan of the 05-2010 set. The new one makes me thing RX8 styling, before the bumper screamed beetle.

Love mine, it's a go kart on the street I can kill it in the corners. Sucks on power, and for the it's a girl car nay Sayers, I've yet to see a woman driving one iny area it's either younger people slamming the piss out of them or older guys that can't afford vettes. I've dailied mine through the winter and never had a problem. Just took forever to heat up

NA - 1st Gen - <$6k
NB - 2nd Gen (99-05) - $6-15k
NC - 3rd Gen (05+) - too dam much for a car that small lol

The Sky/Solstice is holding $10 - 22 depending.

Granted you can find cheaper, so don't start all the "No you can get a 2011 Miata for 5k if you look" because those aren't the normal ranges. My figures for this was just based on 2 mintues of browsing Egay to see. Could vary depending. Miata is the better deal, but the Sky/Solstice is not so common.

944'S are so much fun to drive. The N/a models don't have a ton of power, but man they're fun. Get a 944 S2 for more powerz and non turbo moniez.

But Turbo all. the. way.

My buddy had a beater ass 2.5 N/A car or whatever.

Suspension and some exhaust and it was ripped and gutted to crap.

It was a hoot through the corners...it still ran alright...prolly because it weighed next to nothing. Then valve met piston when timing belt or whatever let go, lol.

When I was in high school my auto tech teacher was a Porsche Club member and had a turbo 944 he took to track days.

It wasn't gutted but it does have 350+hp, it was a lot of fun.

We also worked on many other Porsches in our class, a lot of gutted 2.5 944's, and a few turbo 911's. A friend and myself would always go out to see the Club races and for the Driver Education days, which is what my teacher did. I liked those better because you got to see all kinds of cars, not just Porsches.

Edit: also as a class project a friend of his gave us a Cayman S and 25k to make it track day ready. Completely gutted, roll cage, LSD, $5500 coilovers, a front splitter and rear wing... and some o.z. wheels that were something like $1200 a piece. and some other **** i don't remember.

It was a lot of fun. But the idiot who owned it bought a 911 GT3 RS as soon as we finished the Cayman. He bought the GT3 to take to Porsche Club breakfasts and meets.. He got that **** backwards.

Top of my to own list is a 1985 911 with the M491 option. All the widebody turbo suspension and look, none of the turbo lag, was considered a better car through the circuits.

Will own.

I'm not saying I hate miatas. I think the newest gen looks decent. Just have other cars higher in my priority list.

I like Miatas. My next car will be something small like that but I have wanted a Triumph for the longest time.

anyone who calls the miata gay is insecure in their own sexuality. its a fun cheap roadster that looks like the s2000. id love to have an xterra as a main, and an mx-5 to race around with
