• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

mechanical dod delete

You have to remove it all if you truely want it gone, as in no risk that any parts fail. Turning it off and replacing the vally cover still means the DoD lifter are still there and could still fail.

The intake manifold is not specific to the DoD/AFM either, there is only one intake for the LS4. Everything else comes from another motor GM makes if you wish to swap it.

Just turn it off and forget about it untill you actually want to tear deep into the engine.

I was just thinking if I changed the intake manifold, that I could plug the towers and be a step ahead in the delete process, and not have to take the intake manifold back off when doing the total delete.

nevermind, the intake will still have to come off to change the lifters. if I end up doing it, I probably will do it all at the same time, transmission included.

Displacement on Demand. What's the advantage of a DoD delete? How much practical HP do you gain vs the work/cost involved?

I don't know how much you get from only deleting the dod, but when you do, options are opened up for an LS6 cam or something like that. by doing a dod delete, you can make a lot more horsepower.

"a lot".

Not much just going to a stock cam grind.

I'd be shocked if you gained 30 horse.

If you don't put a real cam in it, with a real manifold (like an LS6), and either do headers or a cutout...it's not worth the time.
