Max Boost With GEN 3 or GEN V

So what is the most boost you have seen you GEN 3 or GEN V make just show boot number with pulley combo currently with my 1.8 Rockers, spring, s2 ic, headers, etc. with my 2.8 im @ 13-14
 


I've seen 15psi. Not giving you more info as it doesn't apply to your rocker setup.

Something to consider is that most of the gaskets in the motor were originally designed around a top number of about 13psi. Which the engine was engineered to never really hit 13psi. IIRC most say the limitation of stock head gaskets is in that 15psi area.

i'd assume with head studs you could safely get away with a lot more.
 
i run a lot of nitrous throught the car right now im just tryin to up the boost to see how it all reacts im running aftermarket gaskets theyre intense mls i beleave i went just little more thickness to lower compression since i intended on sprayin the car a lot

Thing reved super fast and left most wondering what happened.
 
I'm running 13 psi on a 3.0 pulley on a 125 wet shot with stock headgaskets and stock bolts.

Keep it from detonating, and you won't have a problem. Detonation is the main reason headgaskets fail.

One thing to caution you on. If you see higher rpm issues, mainly misfires. Swap the MSD's for stockers. MSD's seem to have high rpm issues anywhere from a month to a year from being new.
 
ill def keep that in mind my problem is i hate the rpm dip when it shift from 2-3 and 3-4 most of the stuff i do is from a roll anyway its just a second gear pull seems to lag once it shift wearther im spraying it or not but its nasty up until that point :)
thanks for the cation on the coils ive been doin a little research on them also is there any tip on a certain wire to us do the bigger 10mm wires actualy work in our platforums
 


what are the big gains in the xp cam over the 1.8 rockers just wondering because i had the xp cam in the car and really didnt notice a whole lot of differance in the mid range from were i run the car from ... debatin on throwing it back in just tryin new setup to see how the car reacts to certain setups

Sell the rockers and put the XP cam back in there. More total power under the curve and is a very streetable cam. Just my opinion....
 
i still have the cam never sold it just tryin to see whats the best setup and power band thanks i like the dyno numbers not too shabby
 
Clearance the heads and run the 1.8's on the XP?

I had...

BRE 100% Balanced Rotating Assembly (L32 rods/L67 pistons), BRE Custom Ported Heads (L32's), Thrasher cam, 130's w/Ti R's, TEP trans with 3.29's, 42.5'ers, 9" Open Cone on a Ported GenIII M90/LIM w/ LS1 TB setup...had a 3.0" on there for most of the time...Custom Pacesetters (catless then 3" all the way back), tuned via HPT on pump gas, no methanol, no IC...never saw more than 10-11~ at the shift.
 


what would i have to clearance to run the 1.8 with the xp cam? this would def. be something i would be interested in doing
 
Pull heads.

Take to machine shop.

Have machine shop install new guides and have them milled .100" to allow for the lift...I think when you mill off .100", max lift is good for around .600"~...Can't remember what the XP + 1.8's made. It's somewhere close to that...
 
You would have to clearance the valve guides for about .650" lift. But, you won't gain any power by doing it. Just run an XP with stock rockers.
