So, I've been getting code P0443 and P0102 from my code scanner - the P0443 is for the lack of O2 sensor because of no cats, correct? And the P0102 probably means my MAF needs replacing? Additionally, the car doesn't always idle right (thought it was the fuel filter at first, had similar issues with my parent's Town & Country van which turned out to be the filter and pump), but between that, the P0443 code, and often times poor acceleration up to 40mph I'm thinking it's all the MAF. Currently it has a K&N oil filter with a WizAired airbox, so I bought an AEM dry filter to replace the K&N (should be here in a week or less) since the K&Ns are known to cause MAF failure. But, on to the thing I was most curious about was that my car is a February of 1999, and '99-'03 are listed as needing the AFH50M-05 MAF and the '97 and 98's are listed as needing the AFH50M-04 - yet my car has a AFH50M-04 currently on it. I assume I should be fine with replacing it with the same number even though the year doesn't match up with what it's supposed to have?

443 is a evap code http://www.obd-codes.com/p0443

102 is low voltage tot he maf check the fuse box under the hood for # 21 to be blown iirc, its labeled ing or the wires to the maf's plug are bad. look for cracks or missing insulation, if you see bare wire the pig tail is shot. it needs to be cut off and replaced.

only buy a maf for your year car. 97-98, 99-00, 01-03 those are your years of the same maf, you cant mix em up.
 


Okay, yup. Yes indeed, I was just looking for used OEM ones on eBay.

So, pulled the #21 fuse and it was blown, spare 15 sitting in the fuse box, lol, swapped, started it up and no more P0443 (granted that one sometimes doesn't come on, so I'll see if it's there tomorrow). But, the P0102 is still there, wiring looks fine from what I can see... Wait, I've got my air filter off - would that do anything with the code?
 
why no air filter? put that back on.

but no filter wont cause that code, its low voltage. the 442 will set when it detects the leak. turn off if it dont.

that fuse powers the maf and up stream o2. clear the codes now, see if it comes back before you buy the maf. that code wont clear on its own for a few drive cycles.
 
The o2 and maf share a circuit. If there is a short somewhere, it'll affect both. I've got the maf sensor if you end up needing one.
 
Car was parked in the shop, had it off so I could measure a few things. No, I don't drive it with it off, haha.

Okay, cleared the codes and took it for a drive tonight since my hose and filter came in the the mail, it drove a lot better than before. Now the only code I get is a P0171, so possibly my MAF is bad? I'll drive it around some more after work tomorrow and see if it still drives and idles smooth and if any new/old codes pop up.

Rain and satellite internet don't mix well, lol.

Anyhow, so I started it up and walked around back - the exhaust smelled like burn oil (not heavy, but you can smell it) and it white smokes just a little (barley enough to see). Besides that the acceleration and all that was great, although it's idle still seems a little...., funky. And so far no new/old codes popped up, just the P0171 is still there.
 


So, the P0171 disappeared Sunday and P0102 came back. Additionally, it almost died out when I started it after work this afternoon - and it didn't seem to idle quite right - maybe need a fuel filter?
 
check fuse 21 iirc in the under hood box. 102 is low voltage code. maf pig tail wires too for cracks or bare wire showing.
 
Yup, blew again. Swapped it with the horn till I get a fuse. The P0443 showed up again, but after I swapped fuses both it and the P0102 went away. So, see how it goes now.... Also, checked the wires off the MAF and they looked good, so IDK why it blew out again.

Also, the last tank and now this one my mileage just completely went to pot, I'm getting like 12-13 now with primarily highway with a little city. Before I was getting 18ish driving to work on a hilly rode six miles a day and a little town and some highway driving. And Interstate at 75-78 I got mid-high 20s. :th_scratchhead: Any ideas? Maybe post a separate new thread?
 
So, the P0102 is back and this morning on the way to school it started running rough, wanted to die, and the RPMs were jumping around. It did that for a few minutes and I got it turned around and it didn't do anything weird on the way home. Tonight I started it up and it died after 5 seconds - started it up and gave it enough juice to keep it running and drove it into the shop onto some ramps. Popped the hood and checked fuse #21, blown again.

Another thing, although I doubt it's related to this issue but just in case might as well bring it up. When I'm on cruise control, and to get off I tap the brake or click the button to off about 80% of the time it'll jump anywhere between 100 and 800 RPMs before dropping.

Also, as mentioned in the above post my mileage recently went to pot.
