Marofan's high mile beater

Well hey there weird mafakers of GPF. I bought another GP...stupid huh. Reason for the name is it's Bronzemist and it somewhat looks like a champagne color....so Corky. Some background on the car. My step-mom actually got the car from a small town in Minnesota...go Cam :th_thumb-up:Don't remember mileage or anything of that sort.It was stock besides some aftermarket muffs and the radio. The guy selling it said the trans was going out. Which it did about 6 months later. So my Dad put a new trans in it. All was well, until it started knocking under heavy throttle. We thought it was something mechanical. Ripped the motor out and replaced it with one that had 70K on it. Still has the original factory stickers on the block. :th_tongue2: After getting the motor in it still had the same knock. Thought maybe a computer issue. BUT, it ended up being a clogged cat the whole time. :th_shakinghead1: Hollowed out the cat, threw it back on, and it ran great. :th_scratchhead:So she kept on drivin it till myt Dad got her a newer Taurus for cheap. My brother decided he was going to sell his black GTP and buy it and he did. While goin home one night he decided to go Deer hunting...lolz not really.Well he smacked a deer and the insurace company totalled it. He had full coverage so insurance cut him a check and we were able to buy the car back for 500 bucks. I jumped on it. Cost me 200 out of my pocket since Dad said he'd give me 300 bucks for graduation. So I only payed 200 bucks for the car the way it looks in the pix...and here we are.

Info/options on the car. 99 Bronzemist GTP. Had 265,460 miles when I got it. This one happens to be fully loaded, unlike the purple car. This one has dual digi climate control, HUD, Sunroof, factory alarm, polished fat fives, magnasteer, auto dim mirror out of a Tahoe I think it was; the original went out, and seats identical to the purple car. Don't think theres any other options avaiable.
Schtuff it's got. GR2's with about 10K on them.
Ordering springs soon.
New hubs, left rear needs replaced again though.
New brakes all the way around
Motor has 80K, tranny has 130K
New rack
New resonator
SPO tipsPioneer radio
When I first got her...kinda ugly...hooray for Iowa and Deer

Cleaned up pretty good...the wheels on it in this pic are off the car now and will be for sale. They're Eagle Alloy. Not sure on the model number. I believe they're 192's.

Now. When I got it my Dad said it needed a p/s pump since the resevoir was full and the power steering didn't work. So I went to the junkyard and got a new p/s pump for 30 bucks. Put it in, which was a major PITA because I couldnt get the bolts lined up. Buuuuutt...after getting the new pump in it still made the same noisy P/S pump whine after filling the resevoir. Figured maybe I got a bad pump, but I had power steering so that couldn't be. Upon driving around I noticed some smoke....and this..

P/S fluid all over the ground. Come to find out the pressure line for the rack was spraying fluid ALL OVER EVERYTHING on the rear bank...I mean EVERYTHING, including the manifold which is where the smoke was coming from. So went and got a new line. Went to put it in and discovered I have magnasteer and not a standard rack. Went back and got the correct line. 22 bucks for the line. Put it on, topped off the resevoir and drove it for the day. When I got home I checked it and topped it back off. Still had a noisy P/S like whine. When I got it my Dad said he used the stethoscope on the alternator and he said it was makin lots of noise. So I figured I'd take the one off the purple car and see if the noise went away. So...popped the belt off Corky, spun the alternator and no noise what so ever. Thought I should at least hear something and decided that wasn't it. Spun the tensioner pulley...my gawd, it was terrible. I'm guessing the sound traveled up to the alternator since the alternator mounts to the tensior bracket. Soooo...went and got a new pulley, threw it on, and quietness ensued. It was beautiful *sniffles* I even took a vid of the pulley it was so bad.Randoms :: 8d114fe8.mp4 video by 4THGENCAMAROFAN - Photobucket

Re: Introducing.....Corky...lol

pimp out the purple car with parts from this one bro.

Re: Introducing.....Corky...lol

more pics of those wheels and size lol
Sure....I think they're ugly but if you want them sure. One of the wheels has rash on two spokes. I sanded out on of the rashes and started the other but didn't finish it because it's fairly deep. I would have to sand down quite a bit of the spoke to get it flush again. Or it'd have to be filled in.

Nope, purple car is relieved of DD status.

I don't follow.

Re: Introducing.....Corky...lol

Soooo it came with a Pioneer radio. I don't like it. Lights up blue. Doesn't work with my phone. It's going bye bye...who wants it? Retails for 280. I'll makea FS thread later. Anywhoooooooooooooo. Since the purple car doesn't have a stock radio I took its radio and put it in the new car.

Re: Introducing.....Corky...lol

Just a shot of the rear. The left tip will be aligned soon, not that you can even tell it's crooked from this pic.The "GTP" over the high mount was also removed yesterday as well. Also replaced both bulbs since both were burnt out.

Re: Introducing.....Corky...lol

You should name it Conky. From trailer park boys....

Where did you buy that from in MN?

Re: Introducing.....Corky...lol

Hmm I need a blue deck to match my LED interior...
The model number is DEH-P6900UB. Google it and LMK if you want it. The manual, remote, and USB cable will be included. It's also prewired for a GP AND it's already in a mounting bracket. So basically remove your current radio. Simply plug this one in, no wiring modifications needed. (Unless you're running an amp. Then all you need to do is connect the remote wire). And screw the bracket to the dash. Simple as that. I'll take some pix quick.

Re: Introducing.....Corky...lol

now you have 2 GTP's? lol and you said it has seats identical to the purple one? so they are 04+ or ??

Yup. 2 GTP's. AND the Camaro is a V6 so I have 3 3800 powered cars. As for the seats these are 06+ that I have in mine. 04/05 had gray. Both my sets are black with white stitching which started in 06

it looks pretty good minus the damage on the side, i like the color
Thank ya sir. I've always been a fan of this color. As for the damage I'm gonna call around tomorrow and see if any of the local yards have color matching parts.
