Major Problems-Blown gaskets

cause its got chipped pistons, do you think its gonna run just fine like that? if its got chipped pistons you had bet carry extra plugs cause they will continue to chip and take out the plugs.
 


well I'm not trying to drive it. I guess I'll scope it and go from there. With several people here saying Chipped piston....I guess I'm trying not to face reality. lol Could a chipped piston mess up my heads? I have quite a bit of money tied up in the heads since I got them ported. How about just rebuilding the bottom end? I have a guy that does a lot of the major work to my car for cheap. Also, I only have 130k miles on this 14 year old car.
 
dont turn the engine with it in there, but if the tip is small enough and the flex flexible enough, piston down you could maybe get the camera to look back up at the heads.
 


Ya i thought bc they were copper plugs they didnt last that long.. i could be wrong though but i usually change mine out every 15k.. they are cheap enough so why not lol
 


He said they were AL 104's so....and no ya didnt mean thats why they were fubard, just letting him know for futute reference ya know
 
No prob lol.... so get a scope down there and post up the chip pistion pic..jk.. hopefully its not but it does sound like you prob chipped a piston
 
Get a scope, check out each cylinder. Look for a chip in the piston, and look for any debris in the cylinder. If it's a minor chip you could probably pull the head, clean the cylinder out, put the head back on and run it for awhile like that. People have done it before, though it's not the best option.

If it is chipped, you really should get a used motor, swap your parts on it, and get a better tune to avoid said chips.

Rebuilding the bottom end of these motors will cost you more than getting a used motor and just swapping your parts on. Lots of machine work to be done to ensure you don't have a 200 mile motor after the rebuild.

Absolutely a chiped piston could damage your heads... once the piston chips where does the chip go? Bounces around inside the chamber and can hit the valves and bowl and cause chips in those as well.
 
Thanks for all of the advice guys. I ordered a scope off of Amazon for $15 and it will be here Saturday....just to make sure. And I'll be sure to post pics of the chipped piston lol. I've excepted that I most likely have a chipped piston so now I'm just hoping that my heads aren't messed up because I have a decent amount of money in them from getting them ported. I guess picking up a used motor might be good so I can get the lower compression L67. This isn't my daily driver anymore so I will make it a fast toy. Lol
 
So the little scope I got was too big for the spark plug hole. I finally was able to do a compression test and the cylinder with the messed up spark plug was at 120. Tested it 4 times to be sure and 120 each time. A guy I know said it's not a piston or ring if it's that high. He said it's going to be the valve. Do you guys think that could be the problem?? I was thinking of breaking it down tomorrow and popping off the head to take a look. Any directions to a good write up on removing heads??
