MAF sensor question

My SES light came on while sitting in traffic so I stopped at Autozone to see what the issue was. They hooked up their code reader and said it was the MAF. They suggested trying to clean it with a cleaner they stock. Tried that and still have the problem (car idles rough and bogs down during acceleration). If I unhook the sensor the car runs fine. My question is can I drive the car like this for a couple of days until I can get another MAF? Will it cause any damage?

Thanks in advance for the help!!

Just drive with it unplugged until you get it fixed. I did that for a while during the VE portion of my tuning. The PCM has tables to fall back on in the even the MAF is damaged. If it's only slightly messed up and the PCM doesn't ignore it, it can cause it to run rough. Unplugging it forces the PCM to use the VE tables which will do until the MAF is replaced.

Thanks for the info.

I'm considering doing a few mods to make the car a little more fun to drive. I'm thinking about CAI, PCM, and possibly a down pipe. I'm not looking for major performance gains....just something to wake the car up a bit. So, anyone out there have any suggestions/recommendations for CAI, PCM, or downpipes?
