MAF sensor problems

I have a code for a MAF sensor. The code said that it read low air pressure. The check engine light will turn on and off with no difference in how my car drives. I cleaned the sensor and changed my air filter and it worked for getting ride of the light for a day or to. The only problem so far is when I first start my car and push the accelerator the rpm needle goes down then a second later it will jump to about 1500 or 2000 making the car lurch forward. So is the MAF sensor code and the car driving weird have any relation and if so how can I fix it. Thanks

Sounds like a bad MAF (I've had faulty MAF sensors in two high-mileage 3800s that I have owned.) Honestly, I've never had good luck cleaning a MAF to get it to work correctly. Both times I ended up buying a cardone remanufactured unit, which solved my problems. A bad MAF has caused me issues such as wildly jumping RPMs, especially at idle, hard shifts, and dying unexpectedly. I suppose wiring could be an issue too, but in my experience it's probably the sensor itself.

I have not tried unplugging it. The code is a P0102. 99 GT. And I might just have to buy the sensor but I am trying to find a cheaper way. I have got prices for them and they are 130 for a reconditioned one which is a little more than I can spend at the moment. I checked the wiring and it wasnt frayed or feel bent or flattened. But if it just doing that sluggish crap I can live with that for awhile.
