Mad Monkey's GP - Fresh and Clean

Re: Mad Monkey's GP -the No heat saga

you be ok on this one, you've got diagrams and such to go by, much more then i did going into it. i just kept pulling screws and removed the layers, till i saw the core. i did mine 100% blind going into the job.

Re: Mad Monkey's GP -the No heat saga

Yeah I've gotta figure out what size screws I should get for the redrill.
Just take out one of the gold ones and get a handfull like that,I can't remember how many I used. You just have to really get enough in to make it secure.

Re: Mad Monkey's GP -the No heat saga

yeah today i might start tearing into it.
There is is just one or two mystery screws you can feel but not really see up towards the firewall. I used a couple extensions and a universal adaptor on a 1/4" socket set. The size is 7/32 I think? You really have to approach it from both sides to get the screws out, once its loose, push and manipulate it towards driver side and it will slide out of the duct joint.

Re: Mad Monkey's GP -the No heat saga

yeah i really wont understand most of whats being said until im upside down in there lol

im gonna start hulk smashing until i get it out

Re: Mad Monkey's GP -the No heat saga

X2, I hear ya there, same way I was thinking when I hit it. Of all the different threads I read, I made note of the 'slide it out towards the drivers side' and it popped out of the duct with the right angle applied. You'll see it when you're down there. Putting it back in was a little more what the hell? I did the reverse and figured if I fubar I can always foil tape it or whatever, but eventually it went in. The duct plastic isn't all that brittle so you will have some wiggle room.

Re: Mad Monkey's GP -the No heat saga

fun times! i love the interior of the newer GPs wish i could retrofit. 97-03 is so cheap and flimsy, and the front seats are hard and uncomfortable
