lower engine mount?

does anybody know if the 99 gtps have a lower motor mount? if so, does anyone know how to replace them? i believe i may have broken something down there because when i hit the gas hard in reverse, or if i downshift, i hear an obnoxious sound. My own conclusion is the engine is moving around too much. Forgive me if i sound dumb, but i don't know how else to explain it. Thanks, Rich

Yes they have a mount on each side. The only way i have pulled them out is by raising the engine and transmission from the top and lowering the cradle a little bit. Some one else might know of a better way to do it. If no one else has a way i can look on all data tomorrow to see what they have to say.

thanks for the link. do you know if when i disconnect the 4 mounts if the engine will drop? is that all that supports it? from what i understand I'd need to support the engine and the car independently.

The engine weight sits on the two lower mounts. The engine mount and the tranny mount. The two upper mounts (known as the dog bones) don't support the engine's weight. They brace it against torque as you accelerate.

THERE IS NO NEED TO DROP THE CRADLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a detailed " How To" written up by Abrasive... WITH PICS!!!

I completely for got about the jack with a piece of wood to raise the engine. I have gotten used to a fancy shop with lots of lifts and hoists.

I'm still trying to get used to my garage with the built in heater..lol. Lift should be going in this next year.. my birthday present to myself :-)
