low oil sensor leaking.....

i have a 98 regal 3800 w/supercharger, when i bought the car 2 weeks ago, it had a bad oil leak, and i found the sensor by oil filter leaking out of the wire plug, so i cleaned it all up with degreaser , swapped it out, and now 10 days later the new one is leaking, is this a problem with these cars with superchargers? or is there a better brand of sensor to use or should i just run a oil pressure gauge off it? i just find it hard to believe i got a defective sensor like that, not that i've never seen one leak before but, im new to this car and engine, thanks for any help u can throw my way.

So oil is coming out from around the sensor? Or right through the plug? I find it hard to believe that you would have two bad sensors. I would rather think that the fitting is leaking that goes through the oil pan.
 
I'd suggest two things.

Use brake cleaner to clean the area. Then use a mirror to look for any crack in the oil filter adapter housing (part that the oil pressure sensor screws into). If the leak is not from a crack or issue in the oil filter adapter put a manual oil pressure gauge on the car to test if the pressure is high. If it's stuck high, then you need to act immediately and fix the oil pressure spring/plunger behind the oil filter adapter, it's likely stuck.

Hmm....so it is the low oil sensor leaking like the title says? Or is it the oil pressure sensor leaking, like the description suggests?
 
I got the impression the OP wasn't clear on which sensor was where based on his location of the leak.

He says "sensor by oil filter leaking out of the wire plug," which is the oil pressure sensor. The oil level sensor is located on the front side of the oil pan. More of his description points us to the pressure sensor as well.

its just the sensor, the oils was coming out of the socket where the plug goes into the sensor, pep boys replaced the one that just blew out so the new one is in and holding. I've only ran wot like 1 time as far as to let it shift by its self anyway. and its running sooo much better since all the sensors now work, (its getting harder and harder not to beat on it, since i just got it and don't fully trust it yet) but what can i expect once i pull the oil filter mount off? will oil just drain out? and this spring u speak of, is it self explanatory? just looking if anything crazy's going to come flying out and ill never figure it out again, and is there a gasket for the mount or O ring? or can i use rtv silicone? thanks scott

i had no idea witch sensor it was pressure or low oil, thanks for clearing that up
 
just a thought, if the plunger/spring thing is stuck,would seafoam clear it up??? what do u guys think of using it? does it really work, as i have never used it myself, but willing to try it.
