Low oil digital display

I'm looking to buy an '05 base GP from my work. Only thing I'm unsure about is the "Low Oil" text that appears in the digital display above the radio. How sensitive is it?

I left work with the car tonight and the display said "Low Oil" so I turned around and drove back to work. I go in, tell my boss what's going on and my he said to park it and service will look at it tomorrow. I go to park and the text display is clear, no "low Oil." So I drove it home and still it shows clear. I'm taking it out to run errands tonight to see if it triggers again.

Is this anything anybody has had an issue with? That display showing "low oil" intermittenly? I tried to search the forum, but "low" and "oil" were too short to return anything. Thanks for your help, you're ideas will determine if I buy this GP or see if I'm going to buy one of the others on our lot.

**edit**

The oil is topped off.

some one could have pushed reset on the dic, if so it would show at 100% no matter how high or low, regardless you should f*ck the se and buy a GTP :th_thumbsup-wink:

higher diplacement+ boost= win

and the 3800 is a more dependable engine than the 3100, and honestly it doesnt mak a ton of power stock, so dont be afraid of the s/c

and well if you wanna mod , well it should be a no brainer

Sorry, it has the 3.8L.

I think the oil reset maybe it. that's what I was thinking, but I wanted to put it out there. Boost isn't needed for me. I'll save the money with the 3.8L and be getting a Corvette or Camaro hopefully within 5 years.

Thanks for the quick responses!

The light you are talking about is the low oil level sensor not the change oil light. The oil level sensor is probably ****ting out.

Just ran some errands with it. When I started it to leave my house the "low oil level" popped up on the digital display. When I went to leave where I was at same thing. I'm guessing this should be a faulty sensor. How much is it and how easy is it to get too? I just don't want to keep running it through my shop, every time they bring it in it'll just add to what I'm going to pay when I pick it up.

Well, as long as the sensor is cheap, I'll let the service dept change it. If it's outrageously priced, I'll just do it when I buy it.

Any more ideas? Or is the sensor just bad? I'll check back here before work tomorrow. Thanks again for the help.

Problem solved, there was a short in the wiring going to the sensor. So far so good now. Hopefully I'll be picking it up this weekend.
