low coolant light question

Hey guys
I have a quick qquestion. I own a lube and repair shop and a customer brought in a 97 grand prix with a 3.1. He came in because his low coolant light is always on, even though the level is fine. I tested the wiring and the sensor. The sensor was shorted internally. I replaced the sensor and the light does not come on. So everything i test, indicated it's fixed. He said, when you turn the key on, the light is supposed to come on momentarily along with the oil pressure and check engine light, then shut off after 4-5 seconds. I tested the new sensor and the wiring. everything works. When i jump the two wires, the light turns on. He says he is certain the light is supposed to turn on when the key is turned on. Can anyone verify this for me? thanks
Jeff

My GP is elsewhere for a while, so I can't check that for a while, but my low coolant light it also on even though the level is fine. Which sensor did you replace? Is it the one on the passenger end of the radiator, partway down the side?
