Low Coolant Dummy Light

My 98 GTP keeps flashing the low coolant light. I've replaced the sensor, flushed the coolant, and it still keeps staying on.

Given the fact that I know it's not low, I've just disconnected it. The temp stays a nice 180 or so (new t-stat) so I'm not worried - just annoyed.

I want to know why it keeps coming on.

Stuff I've checked:

1) No oil or other contaminants in the coolant
2) The wiring harness at the connector etc is all clean
3) The sensor probe is clean (and has been replaced)
4) The coolant is dexcool type

Any ideas?
 


bad wire maybe? id get that dex cool out and replace with green coolant though. dex cool is bad stuff.
 
Bout a year ago had same problem and it had a very small leak; I think the mechanic took the cover or something like that off that covers the supercharger and found a pool of coolant. Some gaskets were leaking ( can't remember which ones) so I had them replaced and problem solved. Hope this helps.

actually its not. ive been running this in all of my gm cars... alll of them have almost 200k on em. the dex cool is designed for aluminum to keep it cooler than regular coolant. even though my l67 is cast iron my radiator and water pump are aluminum so... just a thought. but maybe its just opinionated

I know for sure that the level is fine.

When I replaced the sensor (in hopes of fixing the problem) coolant poured out of the bung where it was mounted.

yea and have u ever torn down a engine thats used dex cool all its life? it clogs up coolant channels... eats intake gaskets.
 




Which sensor monitors the "low coolant" light? Mine is on all the time. I have replaced the temp sensor on the intake?
 
i believe its on the radiator its self, pass side just under the cap. i've only seen it in write ups, never messed with it myself, not yet anyways lol

Have in my gp 302,000 miles and my venture 240,000 miles I change it every two years its been ok it does protect aluminum, problem is most people leave in in too long or just add to it never doing a full system flush with it.

I got the same problem picked up a new sensor but too lazy to change it its running fine
