Low 13 second GTP vs NEON (Neon wins?)

Ran a nice looking SRT-4 on the highway yesterday. I had 2 passengers and long story short, I took a loss.

The skittle was inter-cooled and had a loud turbo, but the speed is not what beat me

The highway started to wind, and I simply could not keep up with this thing around the bends. The neon was not slow by any means, but I wish I could have ran him in a straight line, as I think it would have been a good race.

Anyways, this thing was slammed on some black rims and handled amazing. I have seriously never seen a neon sit so low in my life!

Just goes to show that power won't win em all, even on the street.
That said, I have just invested in GMPP sway bars to prepare myself if I'm ever in this position again. I also have 18's arriving soon with 245/40/18 Kelly charger HPT tires.

Glad you're still alive, SRT4's look like roast beef sandwiches with wheels, no matter how slammed they are.

SRT4's are highway monsters anyway. They are only 2900 lbs and come stock with over 200 hp to the wheels. They are a force to be reckoned with, even it they look like a pregnant rollerskate.

Theres a Silver SRT-4 with a stage 2 turbo/intercooler setup, its very very nice.... for a rollerskate :th_laugh-lol2: I tried once, it wasnt even worth it.... he just took off once we got into 2nd, 3rd i was like yea... no

I gotta read up on these cars. They seem to have a lot of potential. I know my car is probably running a 12 now. I dropped 2 pulley sizes and tuned it since I ran a 13.2. The neon I raced seemed like it would have been close or maybe even beat me going straight.

And we drive GTP's GXP's and GTX's but definately not grand prixs haha...Yeah srt-4's are fast indeed. I had some kid that just insisted i race him like 3 times in my other gtp even though he kept beating me. I told him he was gonna beat from the start and then that his car was faster haha what did he expect from a stock grandma mobile.

Did it have a CF hood?

I can't remember. I know it had black rims and was tinted hard. I honestly don't remember the hood b/c I spent most of my time behind the quick little bastard lol. We came off of I-696 and raced on I-75 heading south.

IMO it's still a Dodge Neon SRT4. However, there's just to much of a performance improvement to just simply call it a neon and be fair about it. It would be like calling an SS a Camaro V6, or a Cobra a Mustang V6. Nobody here with a GTP simply refers to their car as a "Grand Prix". It's either a Grand Prix GTP, or just a GTP. Likewise, you will never see an SRT4 owner refer to their car as a "neon", unless they're being sarcastic.

EDIT: I just cyber ninja'd you blue.

Not trying to be a dick, but its different. Its a Dodge SRT-4, based on the neon.

How is it any different?

Our cars are based on every other WBody...Regal...Impala...Monte Carlo. I don't see your argument at all. And in defense of the SRT...it is a total reconstruction of the powertrain, suspension, chassis, brakes...etc. They are very capable track cars as well as going fast in a straight line.

EDIT: Slowpoke's a b1tch.

:D

FYI they are SRT-4's NOT neons

I beg to differ. They're econoboxes with a motor that makes decent power. The interior is still garbage, it still has cheap car tendencies (squeaks, rattles, etc.) and the overall fit and finish isn't that good. I used to own a Cobalt SS. Yeah it was quick but at the end of the day it's still a Cobalt, a cheap car.
