loud whine???

i hav an 04 GTP and over about 90 there is a pretty loud whine. it sounds like it is comming from the engine bay, but it is hard to tell. also when i turn after the car is good and hot there is a really high pitched sound. it is only when i turn the wheel a little, turn too much and it goes away???

Please tell me you arent talking about the S/C :th_wtf:

If you car is making a noise upon turning it is most likely a CV joint. It would have nothing to do with the temp of the car. If your positive this turning noise is contingent on temp then im stumped

I thought about that also and kind of ruled it out. I could be wrong but it has been my experience then when power steering is malfunctioning it is usually noticeable first on the extremities of the turn, wheel all the way to the right and left. Again just my experience.
 
no its definitely not the supercharger.... the whine when i turn sounds like hydrolics, like oil shoving through a little hole in the rack or something

you can hear oil going through a small hole from inside the cabin while driving it? I would check your power steering level just to be on the safe side, and it is free to do.
 


I work for a pretty big dealership here in Michigan, you would be shocked as to the amount of w-body's that come in with whine complants. Mainly due to a lot of people not know where the P.S pump and res are located. 90% of these car's I'd say have been running very little power streeing fluid for prolonged periods. A lot of these car's come in with failing p.s pump's. They just whine a butt load when under load because a lot of people dont take the time to find the res and put a little fluid in there. Sound's like your car's been there. I'd just drive it till it fully crap's out then just worry about it then. Or if you get bored. Just flush the whole system the best you can to remove any metal shavings that may be floating around, put in some b.g power streeing cleaner cycle the streeing a number of times bump stop to bump stop, flush the system and top it off with new fluid.
 
well yesterday i got new tires, so i gave it a speed test..ran it up to 126 and it didnt make a sound??? but there is still that anoying ringing/grinding when i turn, and i know another person with an 05 GP Base and theres does the same thing?
