Loud metal screech?

Hey guys, I'm not really sure if this is the right place, so I apologize if it's not.

So recently, within the last week actually, I've started to notice something while driving my GP (04 GTP). Whenever I go to back up, a metal screeching or squealing comes from what I think the front drivers side wheel area. It lasts for about 5 seconds, then goes away. But it's every single time I go into reverse anywhere.

I don't know if this could be connected to it, but after I back up and shift to drive again, as soon as I start to go forward I hear somewhat low groan that lasts about a second or two, in the same area.

The guy I bought the car from said new brake pads were just installed, so do you think they could have been installed wrong in the front drivers wheel? You guys know the cars better than me. Any help appreciated. Thank you!

Unless you have a lot of pressure applied to the brake pedal backing up, chances are it's not brakes, although you may want to make sure that caliper is tight. My guess check the wheel hub. Driving forward the bearings settle into a certain position. When you back up the bearing changes position. And when you go forward again the bearing moves back. If there is that much movement you need to check it soon before it ruins your axel or you have an accident.

Lewis..how can you say that? What if a caliper bolt wiggled out (since brakes were just done) and the caliper is flipping up and scraping the inside of the rim? Then when he goes forward..it slides back down in place.

Been there..seen it
