This is my first post as a member here but have used this great source of info threw out the years.. I have a very loud whine which follows RPM Its so hard to tell were its coming from but I am thinking a/c compressor bearing anyone change one while still in car what's involved any help would be appreciated..

take the belt off, spin all the pulleys by hand. the one that dont spin freely is the problem.

a/c clutch's are best not changed. ( you need special tools) buy a new a/c compressor you best option by far.

if it is the clutch, sometimes you can spray some lube into it and it will quiet down.

if the sound goes away when the a/c is on, its the a/c clutch for sure.

Have you checked your power steering and trans fluid level? Both of those can whine and be RPM dependant as well.
