Lost transmission? PLEASE HELP

So I just made a post a week ago about my transmission doing some RPM surging/jerking at highway cruise... Well tonight I come up to a stop light and then when it turned green I had no power, no gear worked, I had to push it off to the side of the road. After I let it sit off for 5 mins I started it up and was able to engage drive again and make it into a parking lot where it lost all gears again.. Once again I waited 5 mins and was able to drive around the parking lot for a min before it happen again.

What could cause something like this?

idk, its never good when it looses all gears, but comes back for a bit after it cools off. then fades a way again.

most of the time when you see this it is pretty much new tranny time. or used.

Yeah trans is toast, I just pulled a low mile rebuilt one for cheap.. Just gotta wait for the weather to be nicer.

it's your torque converter going bad. Had the same thing happen to me 3 years ago in mine. Pull the pan and you'll see metal flakes in the bottom

But it's still worth swapping in the used tranny I got too right? it had to cause other damage.

^just like he said, need to flush the cooler lines and cooler in the radiator. after that you should be good to swap, pull the pan on the used trans and inspect it then change the filter and put in fresh fluid

Well the old tranny I took drained and took apart, there was metal shavings like CRAZY, it was overflowing the magnet, pouring out of the torque converter, etc. Haven't been getting off work early enough to finish up before dark, but I just have to put the wheels on and add fluid at this point to my "new" used tranny....

Upon inspection of the new tranny the fluid was very freaking clean, whole tranny was very clean and the magnet had barely anything on it.. So maybe I got lucky at the pick and pull yard? If it works then I will say I got a good deal for $130 for tranny at pick and pull yard, I spent more than that on the new converter.

New "used" tranny I got in now...

for sure back blow the cooler lines add more fluid and flush the lines. this metal chips and flakes can hide in the cooler. it dont take much for them to hurt that clean new/used baby.

maybe a shift kit too before the pan gets put back on.
