Re: PLEASE READ!! Has anyone delt with this? LOOKK!!!

Stick a screwdriver into the hold in the bottom of the steering wheel cover...99.9% of the time that releases it.

If not...

go to the dealer and get a new key. Been there done that its about 140 for a key

Re: PLEASE READ!! Has anyone delt with this? LOOKK!!!

yeah, the dealer should be able to get a key from the VIN.

Re: PLEASE READ!! Has anyone delt with this? LOOKK!!!

Yep. Like stated. You didn't need to buy a new cylinder. Just take the vin to the dealer with proof of ownership and have them cut you a new key.

I understand i can take it to a dealership but $140? Thats a little too much for me, All i need to do is turn the key into the on position and i'd good i can change it out from there and it only cost me $18 bucks..

Re: PLEASE READ!! Has anyone delt with this? LOOKK!!!

i paid nowhere near 140 to get a new key cut at dealer.. its been years ago but it was only like 40 bucks IIRC

changed your thread title so it doesnt make me want to punch babies in the mouth.

go buy a new key.

Your 98 should only be passkey2(chip inside cylinder) and not PK3(chip inside key) so you should be able to go into the dealer and get a key for under 20 dollars cut according to VIN number.
I think it was 2000 or around then that they got PK3.
