Lost controls for heat and air

All. I have a 2003 GT and have lost the controls for the heater and the air. 1 hasn't worked for years, but this morning on my way home i heard a pop then nothing. It won't turn up. Other than the fuse, what could be the problem? I haaven't checked teh fuse becasue it is cold outside.

i have to leave in an hour and a half so I will try it then. If smacking the glove box area doesn't help i will check the fuse tomorow since I will have a place in a garage that is warm. Thanks for the help. I will update probably Monday.

There will be a piece of carpet on the underside of the glove box and you'll have to remove that to see the blower motor. Give it a good whack with your hand and see what it does.

So, Saturday afternoon the controls still did not work after giving the motor a smack. About 10 minutes into the trip I turned it to 5 and nothing, but 2,3,4 now work, but 5 still did not. On Sunday nothing worked againt the first but after turning to 5 then back the 2,3,4 worked again and this time 5. This morning the same thing. I am going to check my fueses on lunch, but I have noe lost the windshield washer control. I know it does freeze in Ohio during winter, but it still gives a humming when it is working, but now nothing. I will know more after I check the fuses, but i am going to guess the fuses are fine.

I have heard of the resistor being bad and the key won't come out from time to time. I just press the button under the column to remove the key. Where is this resistor?

the resistor is right behind the blower motor. You'll have to lay upside down in your pass seat to see it. I've change a couple they really aren't that bad.
