looking for opinions.

i bought two of these hood scoops to put on my 2000 GTP , thinking it would lower under the hood temps and help with heat soak. i planned on cutting the hood and making them functional. the way i see it they could be used as ram air or cowl induction , but wouldn't fully serve either purpose . they'd sit to far from the windshield given the layout of where you can cut the hood and of course it wouldn't be a true ram air since it won't directly feed the intake filter.

my problem is i can't decide on if i'd like how it looks. i got 2 to sit side by side. these are bolt on style so it's just a matter of drilling 4 bolts holes , but i'm looking for function so i would be cutting out holes in the hood. once that's done there's no going back if i don't like it , it's buy a new hood.

so give me your thoughts. already got em primed and have the car paint and clear coat, but i've been holding off painting because i could use the paint elsewhere on the car if i decide not to do it.

here's the scoops. they are 15 L x 11.25 W X 1.75 H

Those look similar to the front vents on the SD hood for these cars. It might look ok. Any pictures of them sitting on the car for a better idea? And are you going to mold them to the hood too?

Honestly, I don't like the look of them. If you could've, you should've gone for Special Edition heat extractors or a hood with them already built in. The ones you have listed above look like something from a 5th generation GP. But this is just my opinion. If you like them, go for it.

I think they would stand out visually as being a universal add-on. On a race car, sure. On a mild street car, meh. I pass.

The function would not be unlike the 40th anni GP's hood. They called those heat extractors and there was a rain tray underneath to keep water off important stuff. The idea of letting heat out just over the blower makes sense to me but calling them vents rather than scoops would take some getting used to for me.

no these are bolt on only. they have a rubber gasket as you can see in the pic to seal them. that's why i got them , they were cheap $25 each, but they are fiberglass not plastic , and they are easy to install. i made cardboard templates to tape on the hood to drill the holes then cut inside the bolt holes and remove what i want of the hood skin. just can't decide if i wanna do it.

the passengers side cutout would be over most of the SC blower so it should let some heat out when sitting still and push the hot air out under the car when moving. running an open cone , i thought maybe it might help a little with air intake temps. honestly i don't like the looks of the "inferno" ram air hood or the F1 hood, but i do like the other one .

no scoops, save up for a hood.
but i don't really like the after market hoods and there's not much to choose from , SD...nope...F1..nope..WS6...hell no... :th_frowning: the GTX hood is the only one i'd consider . i'd like something subtle , that's why i got the smallest ones i could find.

So are the vents in the fenders functional on the GXP? I'm guessing the GTX is the brand of hood?

i think I would have to see the scoop on the car to make a statement, but if what I think it looks too old school for a GP.

I have a ram air plenum for my MPD hood that I can't use. If you decide to make some holes in your hood , let me know
