Looking for a lightly modded daily driver

I stayed away from the GP because of the auto and large size, but the current prices and 32mpg I got in my 97 are really hard to pass up. My thoughts on mods were

OKGPC shift kit
SD headers, downpipe, u-bend delete, back to stock mufflers
wideband
MP3 Player
Water meth if the mood strikes
and (flame suit on) a tune for 87

I know everyone will tell me to go N/A, but it's a better base if I want to go deeper into mods.

Anyone have thoughts on 97-2003 or 2004-up?

I'm cool with the 87 tune and most of the other stuff.

Except the shift light. Why on earth if you can tune the car do you want or need a light for someone that doesn't know how to drive a stick aka telling them when to shift.

I never mentioned a shift light, are you referring to the shift kit? Any thoughts on 6th vs. 7th gen GP?

Well what are you looking for in the car? Not really a whole
lot of practicality differences. They look different and the 04+ are more efficient but yeah.

I say go with whatever you think looks the best, who cares what others think. And I'm sorry to say this but at the current prices you would be better off buying Pacesetters than SDs, last I looked they were upwards of $700 for SDs.

97-02 Look better imo and are available in a coupe. 04 and up 4 door sedans only but the Gen V is appealing on the L32's. The GTX 8 cylinder is pretty cool also. 03's are the same generation as 97-02 but only available in 4 doors which personally I don't care for as much. I'd rather drive a Regal GS or an Impala SS if going with 4 doors.
