longer SS brake lines (fbody brakes)

UR LOSN

I have found a company that will custom make the lines to be longer for the LS1 brake upgrade:

here is a link to an old auction on ebay as an example:

98-03 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX Stainless SS Brake Lines F+R - (eBay.ca item 160202712013 end time 05-Feb-08 00:58:18 EST)

here is a copy of his reply to my question if they are able to make them longer:

Dear customer,

Thank you for your e-mail. Please be informed that we are able to make the front lines 4.5 inchs longer than the OEM’s. However, the only thing that we need you to do is to add this request once again in your Paypal payment otherwise we will send you the lines as long as the OEM’s.

Besides, please also specify the year, make, model and sub-model in the payment.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. Thank you for choosing A.P.D. and have a nice day!

Best Regards,

I have not inquired on a group buy...but I just thought this was very good news. as they are WAY less cost than ZZP.

I thought for F-body calipers the front lines were increased more like 4.5"? I thought I read that on ZZP or WBS's sites, maybe not though... Let us know how they look, I am looking to get a set soon.

^^^your right..I misread..only saw the 1" for rears. I just went ahead and canged my top post to support current information. I did get a confirmation that they are able to make them that long as well.

You really dont need 4.5"

2" is would be perfect.. even stock line fit fine. Its only when you start jacking the car is when they get tight.

I run the GoodRidge lines with my F-bodys, and they fit, but were just a tad snug to my liking with the strut at full extended travel. All I did to correct the issue was to bend the brake line bracket that attaches to the body of the car out, and down slightly, and wha-ya...no problems, and no rubbing.

For the rear...I have more than enough line that they gave me, no issues back there.

But good news to hear for those who are interested in these. I found a local shop about 3 blocks from my house that can and will custom make any line you want. You choose the fitting ends, and what type of hose you want, and how long and they will assemble it for you no problem. Ones or twos or by the hundreds.

What prices you found are walk in retail, not marked up retail for resale, so no doubt where your going is cheaper. Nice find.

It seems like Canada pumps out a lot of good GP Products. Granted the GPs were made up there and all.

I had gotten a set of Monte Carlo sized Rotors from Tutu Automotive up there back when I had my GT with the FBody brakes. They were of pretty good quality. And prices were more than reasonable. Looks like this place is cut of the same cloth in regards to price and their shipping costs seem to be VERY reasonable as compared to others I have seen on eBay.

I think we charge $89 for a set of 4 longer lines. How much is this company charging?

Not to sound like a jerk, but it was quite a bit less. I think their stock OEM length lines go for around $60 - $65, plus shipping. I had been working on a group buy with them when UR LOSN posted this and was going to be able to get them a bit cheaper before shipping. But once this was posted I decided to see where it would go and see what interest there would be.

If I had not already bought a set of your lines during your woot sale I would have gave serious consideration to these guys.

Hey Zooomer...the link didn't work and what is the discount.

BTW...kudos on the customer service working with the guy using your pulley on an Intense hub with Intense bolts.

:th_thumbsup-wink:

For a limited time, memeber of this forum can use coupon code "GPforumgb" for a discount on our stainless brake lines in standard or + length.

ZZ Performance

two questions, zooomer -- 1. how much longer are the 'longer' lines? and 2, is there a way to see what the discount is without actually checking out?

--- the link works for me, but it's just the link to the lines, you have to enter the discount code at checkout, but it wont let me see the discount amount without submitting the order...

Zooomer, it looks like the link is working now. Thanks.

I also want to say thank you for offering this discount to us. It is much appreciated. I will say this. I would feel better buying from an established vendor such as yourself than from someone I have no experience with. So thank you sooo much Zooomer. I hope that this is the start of more good things to come.

If there is anyone here wanting or needing to buy ss brake lines please take advantage of this offer from ZZP. It is a VERY good discount.

Zooomer, I tried clicking on that link and its giving me an error message:

"Sorry. There was some problem with the data."

Yup, same here.

Fail.

Edit: By manually adding the brake lines to my cart, and using the code "GPforumgb", it shows a $32 dollar discount on the longer SS brake lines. With shipping they come to $77.

Good deal no doubt. But what I find funny that they are able to offer this discount, and still make money. Any good company won't sell products and lose money. So they were making $32 profit and maybe more on every set of SS brake lines they sold? Quite possible.

It happens all of the time, were LTO discounts are offered
below cost. Good Marketing. Not saying this is the case this time but it could be.

what's the problem with that? the goodridge lines sell all day long for 100 or more for the set, so they're competitive no doubt. every place you buy things has markup. some items have more markup than others, i'd even venture to say that some of the stuff zzp has, they may not break even on. this is no different from any other commercial vendor pretty much anywhere.
