There are very few Alaskans here on GPF that I have noticed so far. I am try to diagnose some ABS/TCS problems and curious if anyone has a scanner that can read ABS codes. That is near the Anchorage community. If there is anyone, PM me and maybe we can work out a nice deal.

the abs scanner is only going to be found at a shop, its not something most people have on hand.

its a computer and they pay thousands a year for updats on it, so yes they are going to charge you for a scan. unless you got a good friend who works their.
 
I am trying to figure out wich wheel hub assembly is triggering my ABS/TCS to be off. If it is even a wheel hub assembly. I have an extra assembly that I just plugged in, not installed. To see if the light will turn off. So the front two wheels are eliminated. Although the Passenger wheel kind of moves 12-6 oclock a tad.

I want to grab an assembly for the rear two and see if anything changes. If not then I return the assembly and cry.
 
im not sure just plugging it in will do the trick, i think it kinda needs to be a turning, if you un hook your battery over night, the abs will go away till you drive it again tho.

if one moves more than the rest swap that one out, your talking like a 1/8 of a inch movement right?
 


Start with the passenger bearing since its loose, also you can find abs scanners for like 200 or so now.
 
well scottydog says they will charge you about $100 for a scan, and then your gonna pay between $90 and $150 for a new bearing depending on which kind you get, so youd be better off to buy two bearings for $300 max, than a $90 bearing and a $100 abs scan.
 
Well the Front Driver side has been replaced about 2 months ago. I did the Front Passenger one today and took it for a ride. Nothing got reset, ABS, TCS are off and my power steering is still half assing it.

I think I will just get it scanned and get this sheet over with.
 


idk if you tried unhooking the battery over night yet, but that turned mine off.

oddly i swapped out my power steering pump today and my abs light went off and is still off after driving around a good bit so far, these cars are funny. and i left my battery hooked up. i expect it will come back on soon tho.
 
I left the battery unhooked for a few hours this morning. But I will try unhooking for the whole night. Hmm, My power steering is half ways working.. Hmm... Maybe I should look into that?
 
My 03 had the abs light/ trac off light come on...it was under warranty so I took it in and they replaced the ABS module.
 


Sorry abs module is prolly the wrong term...The actual name is the EBTCM module. And it is located below. Its not the pump (where all the lines are connected to) but the module, which is attached to the pump

Went to the Dealership, they said that the main EBTCM is toast, they want $1200-1350 for a new one shipped to Anchorage. I dont think ABS is that important lol. They say its unsafe though..

They also found that my CV Boot and the Tie Rod are bad on the driver side. The tie rod is 5-6 months old?? Did the dealership break them for me when I got the first Hub replace for me?

But Still the Power Steering Pump idea I want to try..

EDIT: Left inner tie rod loose, left front outer C/V boot torn.

How can I fix the tie rod if possible w/o the use of extraordianry tools.

id search ebay and junk yards for that EBTCM.


pep boys rents you the tool for inner tie rods, well its free, you pay for the tool and then you bring it back and they give you a full refund, oh and get an alignment when done.


put a new axle on the side that has the torn boot.
