Little mishap with water....

So I was driving home from long island on the northern state parkway and came over a hill and straight into a large puddle (lake) in the road and filled the engine with water.. Needless to say it stopped running. So since I am going to rip the engine apart i think its a good time to out it back together with a supercharger on top in place of the n/a intake. I recently got a quote from morad parts for $1300 for the swap, hopefully it includes everything i need to do the job. Does anyone know what pcm i should use and will my stock tb work on the sc, also any tips on the job would be great. Is there a different wire harness i need? Are the injector plugs the same on the n/a? All input is welcome. And no I am not going to turbo it, too much $$$ at this time.. Also will i need to get a tune or will the pcm that i get make it ok to drive? TIA
 


take your time. this is a big job if you dont know hot to build engines. ive learned the hard way a few times.
 
FWIW, just because the engine ingested water doesn't mean the whole thing needs to come apart. First thing I would do is pull the plugs, air filter, etc and crank it over by hand and make sure there is no water in the cylinders. The change the oil to make sure there is no water in it. Then try and crank it and see how it sounds. If all is good, fire it up. I have done this on a couple cars that ingested water and stalled. And with a little careful work, they started up and are still running fine.
 
pull the plugs pull the fuel pump fuse and crank.

after about 2-3 min of cranking put new plugs input fuse back in and try to start car might take a turn or two but once started back up it will run like **** for a few then good to go. Dont try to start with water in engine with plugs in
 
The motor that you have in there now is not built for a super charger. Do not do it. Your compression ratio is to high right now for a supercharger and you will burn up the motor faster then you can say "**** under the hood" the super charged motors already have a compression ratio that does not need to use a high octane fuel. If you decide to put this on you will need to run a MUCH higher octane in the motor and you will not be capable of running it right. Im not sure if your ignition will set its self at that much of a diffrence. remember the higher the octane the slower the burn and therefore knock sensor will adujust the timing and im not sure what these are set at. you really need to look more into it.
 


Higher octane fuel does not burn slower, it resists detonation more. The knock sensor helps in adjusting the timing, but it's not permanent. Once the knock subsides, the PCM commands full timing again until it detects knock again.

You've got it backwards here:

The N/A cars have a higher compression, yes...but they can run a lower octane fuel.
The supercharged engines are a lower, yea....but they require a higher octane fuel because of the power adder.

How is it that hundreds (that I know of, at least) have done this swap and are able to run it just fine for years? There are several right here on this very forum. It's a very well known and very safe mod as long as the proper tune is loaded. You could probably run a stock GTP PCM if you just do a straight top swap and it would be fine until a more detailed tune was possible.

im running on a blower on my N/A bottom end. the higher compression means i will make more power with less boost. so heres a scenario i can have a 8-1 compression motor and need 20lbs of boost to make 400hp, or i could use 9.5-1 compression and only need 10lbs of boost to get to 400hp. usually everyone who blows up an L67 will swap for a L36/26 bottom end.
