LIM Job

I plan on doing a LIM job soon and wanted to know while I have the engine halfway torn into, what are some recommended performance mods I should consider?

Yea I was thinking rockers. Anything really beneficial to cutting the bosses on the supercharger?

Go gen V....dont bother porting...,port the lim, change to aluminum lim gaskets, go cam or rockers, headers, intake, 180* t stat, full synth oil, coolent flush, intercooler, smaller sc pulley, bigger injectors, e85... go crazy..

Aaron was reffering to opening up the sc inlet if he swaps to a gen v. and just going to assume you mean heads, not headers, because that wouldn't make any sense

Made the spelling correction, thank you. And I encourage porting the SC, did it myself. Just saying don't do the LIM like someone else said to do bc if you don't have ported heads, it can cause turbulence in the outbound air.

Right, but he wasn't talking about porting the runners which cause issues with unported heads.

He was saying IF he wants to put a gen v on, the supercharger inlet on the lim would need to be opened up a bit to match the gen v outlet.

Got it. That Aaron guy just generally said "port the lim" so that's open to interpretation I guess. Here is another good thread about upgrading to gen v...useful info for those checking the thread... http://www.grandprixforums.net/thre...arger-faq-swap-thread!!-(genv-gen-five-gen-5)

Yea I think I save a thread to my bookmarks some where on porting the supercharger. Switching to genV is nothing something I'd want to do at this time.

Start with headers and you're on you way... Porting the SC AND TB provide a nice crisp throttle response and just a little more and smoother airflow... Certainly beneficial! Along with 1.9 rockers makes a nice and easy mod/upgrade for a few HP more! Open up the Catback and you'll like it even more, soon you'll want a cam and look to unload the mods you already made, adding heads and cam, tranny upgrades then you'll want the moon, say E85, IC or Turbo even! It's a sickness!!!

so anyways, here's the moral of the story...

do YOUR own research, the forums have plenty of info on this platform, so its easy to chose, budget, HP, etc., that you want to chase. But do your research, make a plan, put your stuff together and go for it. There's no right or wrong as to what is best, because you need to know what you want out of your build and build to achieve that goal.

P.S., I have ported SC & TB, Headers and 1.9's, 3" Catback and love it!

I already have a 3" do but don't know if I'm really going to keep it because its against the firewall and every time I reverse its like the motor move pushing down on the dp which is causing it to sound like its leaking between the rear exhaust manifold and dp.

switching to a gen v is more work and not worth the money. just port your gen 3 and smooth out the inside of your lower intake manifold. you could also gasket match the runners.
