LIM gasket



okay well the reason i ask is because i can get a discount at napa but they only have felpro i think. but id rather go ahead and get good gaskets so i wont have to do it again for a while
 
If you do it right with the GM gaskets, you won't have to ever do it again. They're aluminum, not the plastic nylon crap that comes from the factory.
 
Be prepared if you are going to buy the LIM gaskets from the dealership. $86 here in CT!!:th_angry2: Had a set coming from gmpartsdirect.com but their shipping takes forever so I got them locally. Soooo, got an extra set on hand. Just trying to get the car back together and got tired of waiting.

Well, after pumping tons of coolant into the motor, got things back together today and it fired right up. Used my wet vac to suck all the coolant out of the lower intake before I pulled it and had coolant in the intake ports as well.

I put new injectors in at the same time since the car has 120K on it.

Still got a few problems though. Got a leak at the return line quick connect on the fuel rail and looks like a slight leak at the t-stat housing. Only used the o-ring type gasket but looks like you have to use a regular gasket along with that????

One weird problem I noticed, if you rev the motor over 3900 rpms it starts to miss???? Rock steady right up to that rpm, almost sounds like it has a rev limiter on it. This was in PARK as I haven't driven the car with the slight fuel leak, no sense in having it burn to the ground.

This 98 GT was left to us from my mother in law when she passed away so it isn't our primary car, but it just seems like everything is letting go at once.

Still have a rear window to fix as the cable broke on the regulator, abs trac lights are on, and the AC is not working, only blows hotter than hell air at all settings. AC compressor IS running and has a decent charge. Well, winter is almost here so that isn't too much of a concern at this point.
 


ZZP has the gaskets for $50. Great deal if you're already buying something else from them to combine shipping. And, yes there is a 4k RPM rev limiter when sitting still in park and neutral.

theres just an o ring for the t-stat housing, no gasket, the leak might be the LIM gasket or in your case (gt) the UIM gasket.

abs and tract ligts on is a bad wheel speed sensor, so find someone witha techII scanner that can diagnose which one it is and replace that wheel bearing.
 
Leak is definetly coming from the t-stat housing. Weird mine had the o-ring AND a traditional gasket. When I replaced the t-stat I just used the o-ring only. I can see the coolant seeping from the housing so guess I will add another paper gasket as well.

Yeah it is recommended that you use both. Some GPs came with both, not sure what years tho. My 97 came with both.
