LIM Gasket Replacement. what else while I'm here

Just picked up an 02 GTP 40th anniversary Coupe with 160k km's on it. Only aftermarket part is a K&N cold air kit, however it also the includes the ever popular "dreaded" leaking intake option.

Got it for a deal because of the intake leak. (no milkshaking in the oil either) I've done the repair 3 or 4 times so it shouldn't be an issue. Just wondering what everyone else would replace while were opening her up.

My list is as follows.
-Lower intake manifold gasket
-Injector O-rings
-Supercharger (upper) manifold gasket
-Supercharger oil
-Valve cover gaskets
-both coolant elbows
-lower temp thermostat
-Spark plugs

Anything else while were down there? Thanks guys
Derek

i'd add some new vac tubing and T's to the list, as you know they will break on ya.

why a temp sensor? is it not working?

and make sure you have thread sealant on hand for the lim bolts.

I've always just put a cooler thermostat in 160* or 180* makes it run a little cooler.

Yes Forgot about the T's always replace those as well Thanks Scotty

sheeesh, i miss read you lol you can if you want, no real benefit's if your stock. and not tuned for it. the fans really should be tuned for it.

While your supercharger is off, change the coupler?? And yeah, if you are running stock, I would stick with the 195 stat. My thinking, and correct me or provide more insite, if your thermostat is open more often then closed, is it really allowing the coolant to absorb the heat from your motor? I'd buy a new tstat, just not a cooler one.

Corrected

Stock is a 195*, not a 180*.

180* is fine, stock or not. Seeing as you are up north, drill it so coolant is always flowing. Spark plug wires while you're there. Use the metal coolant elbows, for a few $ more they won't break. Don't forget a throttle body gasket as you might as well clean that while s/c is off engine.

Bookmarking this, also why would you drill the t-stat for it to always be flowing? What's the benefit?

I am sure there are better write ups out there but that one should get you started. Oh and make sure to tape over the needle bearings inside the case so you dont get shavings inside.

Some take out the h bar and open up the lower intake accordingly however i don't believe this does much unless its for an intercooler. Not to mention pressure is built up in the lower intake manifold which opening all that up would hurt that pressure from happening... if that makes sense, or at least in my head thats how it goes.

H-Bar and no H-bar is same... Makes no difference. I'd leave it unless Intercooled. Biggest gain is just going to come from smoothing out the rough casting and cleaning the outlet side of the rotors on the case along with the enlarginging of the "V's" open end. You can look at my car thread, think I put some pics there, but there are plenty of pics and threads on porting the S/C. I agree as well, if time allows and willing to do it, clean it up and paint it, TB as well. Don't port the TB though unless you can tune for it.

As for the Thermostat, It's old school... Nice article and I didn't know it existed, lolz... But the other reason too is that even if the stat goes bad and stays shut, you'll have some flow.

If you want to go the 9's and do all good things to her, do a Tranny Pan drop and change the filter and fluid in there :) might as well. Lol

Powder coat or rattle can for the charger and rails etc? I wouldnt just rattle can with vht paint would you? i cant see that ending up very pretty in 60k
