I'm running a lightweight rotor pack from MACE engineering here in Aus. I can't tell how much the lighter rotors themselves contribute to performance... but when I had them fitted to a brand new blower which was fully ported I gained 32hp up top and about 20 - 25 across the rest of tbhe rev range.
And on the dyno sheet it looks like the limiter could have been raised a bit and got maybe another 5 - 10hp out of it.. I just think my tuner didnt want to spin the stock bottom end too high.
So I do believe they help a bit. Once you make over 300rwhp every hp is hard to come by anyway
Any reduction in rotating mass will be a gain in HP. Not sure how reducing the mass makes the supercharger capable of way higher pressure or significantly higher HP.
This is a guy who intercools supercharger snouts. Never understood that one very well, why do you want to add heat to your intercooler loop to cool down your bearings.
I did a fair bit of reading on the topic a while back... came across a thread somewhere where some dude did testing stock vs. drilled out rotors. Cant remember if it was m90 rotors though.. but the principal would be the same I guess... anyway, the drilled lighter rotors showed less flex and vibration.
Also, of the people I know here who are using the MACE Engineering lightweight rotor pack none of them have had any problems. One guy is using a 2.4" pulley and overdriven balancer and even the coating on his rotors is still flawless after a year or so... he's making 450rwhp with the m90 lol
As for myself, ive been using the light weight rotors for a month now.. and no problems as of yet.. and i'm not expecting any dramas at all.
But to make use of it you'd want to be running a pretty small pulley... on a 3.4" it probably won't make any noticable difference.
The harder you spin the blower the more the HP savings add up exponentially.
here in Aus we a2a cool our m90s, pulleys in the range of 2.4 - 2.55" are common
