lights go dim

i"m thinking alternator, but thought i'd run this by the guru's on here.my lights
are going dim at high rpms(5,500 +)they will dim enough to to appear reddish
looking. as soon as i let off throttle the least little bit they're bright again.i can
run all the lights and heater on high for as long as i want doesn't kill the battery
.i guess my next thing will be volt meter and check voltage.just did and it's at
14.3 volts at idle and 3,000 rev.what am i missing? how can i check the volts
at high rpm's? scanner? engine runs fine.thanks in advance.
 


belt was put on christmas day, i thought about tensioner ,but belt seems to be tight. i'll double check fordman77,thanks,jimmy
