Lifter Preload?

Hey fellas,

Lifter preload...

My cam is different, my heads are decked and my gaskets are thinner.

Ive measured .150'' preload which is way too much. Engine wont idle properly and the valve train is a bit noisy. (Ive just done a full engine rebuild)

Ive noticed most people recommend .020''-.060'' preload. Does this seem about right?

Does this mean that if my pushrods now are 7.050'' long then to get me in the middle of the 20-60'' preload range i need 6.95'' long pushrods? Does that make sense?

shorter pushrods are what you want. im not fully aware of the ratios, but your theory sounds right. maybe someone will check in and help us out.

Yep definately, its just how much shorter to go lol?

I dont like the idea of spacing out the rocker arms either.

no, no. definitely dont shim out the rockers. you are going to need shorter pushrods for this. how long? im not sure.
