Lifter Issue (I hope)

Hello, I'm new to the forum so if I post in wrong locations please let me know!!!

I have a 1999 Grand Prix GT. Perfect car and quick for what it is!! It's got 130K showing and never had an issue until now.. I changed the oil (10w30 Castrol GTX) and a couple days after (first time this morning) I started the car and it sounded like it spun every bearing and every lifter had gone flat. I backed the car out of the garage and it drove fine like nothing was wrong, just making noise (rattles and knocks). I thought well I have to get to work, try and see. Based on the way it sounded at the time I did not think I could do any more damage. After a couple of miles the car smoothed out, sounded normal and all was great. Hmm.. I get to work, park it and go in.. Car sat for 8 hours, I went back after work, started it up and the same sounds that happened this morning.. Missing, loss of power, and sounded aweful especially in the garage.. I had my fiancee in the car and she said it sounded like a Harley!! Again I drove it a couple of miles and back to normal..

I'm thinking I have lifter(s) going out on me, bleeding out as the car sits, and taking a while to pump up. I would think a broke spring would be a constant problem and a stuck valve would be more intermittent, but still an option..

Am I right in thinking this or could it be something else, also is there an easy way to check lifters and valves?? Also if it is lifters would you suggest the normal Autozone ones or op for ordering a comp cam's set? Any and all help would be appreciated!!

Thanks

I'd change the oil filter. Reason being is it has an antidrainback valve and it sounds like your oil is draining back.

for $5-10 it's cheap to try.

Now i have always ran AC oil filters in the car (as is this one).. Could I have gotten the one defective one?? :o) Would be nice, considering the price of lifters!!
