Letterman's Joke

blueguy

The Blue One
So in the past week or so David Letterman made a joke about Sarah Palin's daughter. Thanks to Kendra who reminded me of this. He made a joke about Sarah Palin's daughter. Might have been a bit much but that is beside the point. He made a joke, get over it. SO friggen tired of hearing about how it is so wrong to talk here in this country...what happened to freedom of speech? She is in politics...a nationally known figure, who has opened herself and her family to anything and everything...especially night talk show hosts, who prey on celebrity mishaps and politics. Can we just look past the fact that it was a joke? I guess not...since Palin and her husband Todd are badmouthing Letterman all over their blogs, Facebook, etc. Here is a link to the interview with Matt Lauer on the Today Show. Listen to that crap. What a joke she is herself. :th_laugh-lol3:

Oh, and for all the female's here...please do give me your side. And don't just bash me because I am a guy and have a one-sided point of view. Would it have been any different if it was a female that had said that joke? You bet your sweet ass it would have. Now, if Kathy Griffin busted that one out in a stand up...you think females would have laughed at it? Damn right they would have. Feminist bull****.

Comedian's make tasteless jokes all the time. Many say a lot worse than Letterman. They are just made to general race, sex, etc...

Life's short, you can't worry about what ppl say and ruin your day..

Big deal... lets moan, gripe, *****, and complain ...about a joke. Not a threat. Not a physical attack.....

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this mornin' and you're welcome for reminding you ;)

ETA: I'm not a jerk in all honesty, just giving you a hard time for blowing my response out of proportion on Obama lol :D. Not everybody has to like the man.

BlueGTP91 and Lawngoose you obviously have no daughters, I have 3 daughters and find no humor in statutory rape and impugning the morals of minor children. The "joke" was not intended to be funny it was a verbal bomb intended to demean Palin. The laughter you heard was that of an embarrassed audience. As for the apology, its simply not believable.

If you can see Letterman laughing at jokes about his own son's vulnerabilities or making jokes about Obama's daughters, then you go ahead and believe his apology was sincere. If not, just admit there's a double standard when the media elite makes fun of a conservative.

You can't honestly tell me you have never made a joke about someone you have hated or dislike. And if you say you haven't, then you sir are a liar.

"If not, just admit there's a double standard when the media elite makes fun of a conservative. "

So true. If he made the joke about a liberal's daughter, N.O.W. would be going nuts.

Seems to me that Don Imus ( I can't stand him BTW ) got fired for something similar........

Like Jeff Foxworthy said about it, He's in the business of comedy and to make people laugh. After you have done it everyday for 10-20 years you will have your slip ups. He can consistently make good laughs in good taste. Sarah is just turning a mistake into a publicity run, she has hardly anything to lose from running her mouth now that a well known comedian lost his.

This has nothing do with with freedom of speech, either. Yes, Letterman has the right to say this, but people have the right to react how they did as well. Freedom of speech just means the government can't shut him up, it doesn't mean every jackass out there can say whatever they want and nobody else can react to it.

'just like you cant flip off a cop, its public indecency'...........perhaps in your state!! LoL

........and there you go!! It seems the left wants freedom of speech to mean that they can say what they want, and the reaction MUST be positive, or somehow there first admendment rights have been violated. Can you say "Dixie Chicks"? They had the gall to whine that their freedom of speech wasn't respected when there fans turned on them, broke their CDs and concerts had to be cancelled due to lack of ticket sales. They really should open a history book and learn what the bill of rights is for.........

The bottom line, Sarah Palin is more popular than David Letterman. The bitter old man is just not funny any more.

Sarah is popular and the Left (read Democratic Party) is afraid of her because she is one of us. Middle class, trying to raise a family and tired of the federal government making that difficult. The establishment Republican's don't like here either, primarily for the same reasons.

Yup...summed it up right there.
