if you do another one, cut the GT letters out of wood, and wrap the liner over that as well as the rest of the board. i like the look of the whole thing in liner

The foam board would be able to handle the liner and give you that "raised" look your looking for. I'll probably go to Wally world and get some material (red or black) possibly some foam and go from there.
 
Wanted to try something different...

Decided to make another trunk lid mat, wanted to do this one a little bit different, this time the letters will be recessed. I'll double up on the foam board as before, with a piece cut out on the backside, can cover it with any color, type of material I want. Figured I'd try it first on a test piece before final construction. Don't think it came out too bad using the trunk liner material. Ordered more material, should have this one done mid next week.

I'm exited to do mine this summer. I just keep telling myself that I'm almost done im almost done. I love college but I could use a break
