Leaky pcv

Pulled the supercharger today to replace my lim gaskets. And what I found was oil on the underside of the supercharger at the bottom of the pcv valve. I also noticed that there was something jammed in the pcv breather hole. It was the plastic cone or whatever that thing is that goes right underneath the pcv valve. Is that peice of plastic supposed just sit in there with the pcv valve on top of it? Im also guessing my pcv valve is bad since there was supercharger oil everywhere, would I be right? Any help, thx.

Oh. I should've known that. Silly me. So then the oil probably came up into the pcv valve by way of my lim gasket leak?

just replace it, its like 5 bucks.

the oil on the bottom could be from the LIM.

if your not burning any oil or losing alot, i wouldnt worry alot about it.

I will replace it tomoro. But until then i put it all back together properly & its amazing how great my car runs now! Its crazy how sensetive these motors are to vacuum leaks.

Gaskets should not get ruined by fluid touching them. Their job is to gasket two things. Definately check your pcv, normal operation though is for that little plastic piece to catch some of the oil and send it back down.

Saw this thread and want to ask a question. I have an '01 GTP with 118K miles and have noticed that I'm starting to see a little oil consumption that I never had before. My mileage has also dropped about an average of .7mpg for identical daily driving of 20 miles to/from work.

Have owned car since new and change oil every 3,000mi religiously.

Could that be caused by a PCV going south?

Steve

I'd estimate it using about a qt every 1600 miles. Definitely no oil leaks....had the intakes and oil pan gasket replaced with the newer dealer gasket / sealant awhile back and have never had another leak.

Is the pcv easy to locate and get to?

Steve

Long time since last post, but I changed PCV and still have a slight amount of oil consumption. No oil leaks at all. I've been changing oil in 3-5,000 mile intervals, with 10W30 Valvoline regular oil. It's an every day driver and my daily commute is 10 miles each way....about 15 minutes of non interstate driving.

Have about 124,000mi and car runs great.
