Leaking gaskets need diagnosed (with pics)



correct. off the engine.

the lower rad hose off the rad is a pita to get off for real lol i just had to change my rad. what a ordeal the lower hose was. i should have changed that damn hose on general principals lol

Got everything unplugged and disconnected now, do I need to do anything with the circled part in the pic? And does I highlighted need to be moved somewhere?

take the fat hose off the top off and the small line to the fire wall off. the small line its best to cut the old rubber end then remove it as the tree likes to break. then use a new 1 inch of vac line to put it back on later.

you need to un hook the evap back theres still, and the map if its not done yet.

the harness there will lift up some more after its all unhooked, then lift and slide the blower out from under it.

you need to take the tb cables off too.

dont forget the egr tube on the driver side of the lim, is one bolt.

Here's how things are looking right now back there. Do the EGR and MAP need unbolted anywhere?

i hope you dont need this car come monday lol this is taking a long as time.........this is a 3 hour job most of the time.

the evap, the one with 2 vac lines, the black side pulls off, the white side you pinch and pull it off.

the map sensor has a vac line under it, unbolt it and remove the vac line. pretty sure its held down via 2 super charger bolts.

the egr valve can stay put, the tube from it to the lim needs to be unbolted, and pulled from the lim.

For the removal of the alt bracket, I found one 15mm bolt under the pulley but where are the other 2?

Also, before I pull the LIM off I wanted to ask if its ok to put a towel over the crank to avoid pieces of gasket being scraped into it?

Front lower right of the picture. Next to the T stat hole. Is that lower bolt down in that gully. There should be two bolts taken out right there.

Yes..you can put a towel over anything you'd like.

Scraped LIM free of most debris. Now do I go at it with brake cleaner or what?

Scrape it flat .. like you have. Then you clean any residual dirt/grime off with a rag and brake cleaner. Expect that the image of where the gasket was...will show up. Once the rag is clean..you are all set. The old gasket shows up with cleaning though..it always happens.

Yeah you were right! So same procedure with rag and brake cleaner on the mating surfaces in the engine? I should do valve cover gaskets before all this right?
