Large Exhaust leak, Most likely place?

Sea Foamed the car earlier before doing some maintanence (oil, vaccum lines, fluid top off), and while drawing it in through the LIM I noticed quite a bit of smoke coming from the back manifold area. I noticed it on the front back part. So my question is, where's it more likely to leak from back there? Crossover, EGR, manifold?

Also have a 3 inch downpipe and thats it for the exhaust.

sure it was an exhaust leak? sounds like oil dripping on the rear manifold from the rear valve cover...

sounds like it's at the manifold to DP connection.

Nope. I could see the DP/manifold connection and it was all clear. Smoke was concentrated around the corner section of the engine where the crossover/EGR and manifold edge are.

Yeah. never smoked there any other time except while drawing the sea foam in. Valve cover edges and heads are still pretty clean from when I cleaned them off while the engine was out of the car for a trans rebuild.

Kinda sounds like you know where it's coming from. That's where the leak will be if that's where you saw it.

I said what I did, based on your description in your post. I'm confused as to why you are asking us, if you saw the exact location of the smoke pouring out.

Not sure exactly which I need to correct. Whehter it's the crossover, EGR, or the manifold gasket itself?

Which of those are the usual culprit?

None actually.. unless you've pulled one of them apart.

which is another reason why when you said you swapped DP that i was on that gasket. :th_biggrin2:

Gotcha. I'm debating if I want to throw speed daddy's on the car or not. It won't be till I get my tax return so I'll just worry about the leak then I guess.

That's not the best plan. You should take a moment and look for the leak. Look at it, move your hand around when the engine is cold but running to try and locate it. Fix the leak, it can cause many other problems that you don't need.
