Landscaping Project

thats not the home depot wall blocks thats for damn sure lol those look to be of good quality for sure.

that groove cut in them, thats for lighting wires and outlets.
 


Funny part is that I got their "B" grade stone which put is at the same cost as the stuff I could have gotten at Home Depot / Lowe's but with much better quality even being their "B" grade. Grooves are there for multiple reasons.....running wiring, holding retaing mesh, and also there are holes drilled for pinning each row of blocks together. The walls I'm making aren't high enough to need to use the pinning so I'm just using the standard wall block adhesive.
 
Yeah..that's the ones a buddy used. He went with ones that were 80lbs per block. I lent him the ATV and garden cart. Made things much easier

I want to say that the version I went with ranges from 25-65 lbs depending on the shape. They delivered with a 3 wheel fork lift and placed everything within 3ft of my trenches.....worked out perfectly.
 


I made a little more progress today. Have to finish up the corner on the one wall (didn't like how one part looked so re-doing it) and then do the remaining cap stone. Cap stone is just going to be a lot of cutting but not as much of the manual labor as the rest of the walls were. Still a decent amount of work to do but glad to see that the hardest parts are done.



 
Haven't had a chance to take the picture of the landscaping but should be done here very soon. Getting the garage wired, insulate, and storage crap build took priority for a while.

Area to the left was taken down 8"-10".....Area to the right was the opposite. It's tough to tell in the original pictures but that right where my sidewalk was cracked and sunk down really bad right there. After having it raised up 4" or so there was a horrible low spot right in front of it. So in that area dirt had to be brought in. Cost to re-do sidewalk was like $1200....to have a company drill holes, inject grout mixed with limestone to float it ended up costing $400.
