lack of starting

I have an 05 GTP love my car but its got a nasty attitude. Wonder if anyone else has run into this and what may have fixed the issue. Whem the car is warm it thinks about engaging the starter. All the dash lights work everything comes on like its.suppose to but the starter wont come out and connect. Sometimes u get not starter movement sometimes it.will hit the flywheel but still not starting thw car. Try to use the remote start it acts the same way. There is a brand new battery and a brand new starter in the car did this with the old and the new parts. This is NOT a fuel issue cause the starter isnt even engaging to be a fuel issue. If i let the car sit for awhile it will finally start but if its hot out no start. But the start is sometimea thinking about working but not enough to get the car started.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you replaced the battery and starter did you clean all the connections? Next time it has the issue and you have some jumper cables, connect the black jumper cable to the (-) on the battery, and connect the other side to a metal bracket on the engine itself (leave the positive and red wires ALONE). If it starts, you have a bad ground. Do you have headers by chance?

No headers. And that was suggested with the jumper cables and that has been done and it still does it even when that done. This is really getting agravating

hit the starter body with a hammer a few times, good and hard, then see if it starts.

if it starts, you need a new starter.

Ok i will repeat this. Its not the starter. The old starter did this and so does the new starter. It is also a new battery.

ignition harness maybe.

try beating on the column under the key. (not hard enough to break the plastic) if it fires up the harness is bad.

this has worked for a few guys who had a bad ignition harness. its not a fix, but it may fire up.

Is this a common problem with them?? but even when i use the remote start it still does the same thing so im not sure tapping on the dash would matter in that case?

If the starter does anything at all, the ignition harness is working, IMO. It sounds like the starter is not getting enough amperage (current) to kick the motor over. It's either a bad ground or a bad positive wire leading back to the battery. When you replaced the starter, did you clean all the mating surfaces? Those surfaces are how the starter gets it's ground.

All surfaces have been cleaned and recleaned and now replaced. Even the power wire to the starter was replaced. Still the same effect once awhilr the start comes out but not all the time sometimes it will even hit the flywheel in not a good way. And it only acts up when its hot. Never when cold. Let it sit for 2.hours.syarys and runs just fine just dont shut it off

Have you tried manually jumping the starter with a test switch or something of the sort? I know it'd be a pain.

No I haven't done that cause I don't need to test the starter it is brand new and has been tested off the car already. The car starts just fine when there is nothing registering on the temp gauge. Then it acts like it has.hiccups cause the start is still attempting to work but loses.connection or power.

That wouldn't only be testing the starter, it would be telling you everything is okay from the battery to the starter (positive wire, grounds, and the starter itself) , so you would know to start looking elsewhere. Have you tested the trigger wire going to the starter for +12V when the car is NOT starting? This would take 2 people of course, and a set of ramps or something of the sort.
