• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

L67 top-swap onto L26...on an ultra low budget

I'll take a better picture, but there are horizontal lines on the two gears that line up with the bottom of the drain plug. they are kinda faint, but they are there. almost look like small dots.

These are the marks

I'm guessing it's either oxidation or some kind of residue from the oil, but the oil LOOKED normal. Light golden yellow color, extremely viscous...thicker than gear oil, definitely. I simply thought it was mildly interesting, since it's simply a surface mark and doesn't extend onto the teeth of the gears.

water? lol that doesn't sound good.... but I guess since there wasn't a gasket that the aluminum could have shrank just enough during the winter to let the tiniest amount of water into the snout... It has hit -60*F here a few times in the past decade or so.

Lol, I'm gonna replace the coupler anyways just because it's factory, and idk what the time and weather have done to it. Just to be safe. Lol

It's possible, make sure to use the anaerobic sealer when you put it back together. it just looks like it's been sitting for a while. It's also possible the heat caused the seal to be compromised and allowed water or vapor to enter the snout. It looks good so I wouldn't worry about it.

There was no trace of any gasket material or sealant on the snout, just some corrosion in the bolt holes, none on the threads though. :D lol now I just need to figure out what to do with the lim...

I'll have an extra set of L67 heads soon, if you are interested.... but I'd imagine shipping cost would be a massive PITA.

My hand held guesstimation was 35lbs each, I wasn't that far off... I don't know if I want to risk two separated shipments, but I haven't had any issues yet so we shall see. Lol

I'm pretty sure they changed brackets from series 2 to series 3, so idk if I can get a L67 tensioner and idler to work... Lol

grab the iron icm dog bone bracket also, and the long stud and its nut from the sc tensioner, as well as the three bolts for the idler stand.

If they're still in good shape I'll definitely grab them, and try to get the HB off. Lol hopefully the block is seized so I can just use the 36" breaker bar I have instead of trying to get a compressor and air impact out there.

so the JY's gates are chained... lol but there should be new management in a few months. I'll head to the other JY during lunch tomorrow, I know they'll have the parts.
