im tearing down my motor and im at the timing chain and i cant seem to break the bolt loose hold the chain and sprocket off. any one have any ideas ?

break the bolt loose hold the chain and sprocket off.. is that a sentance?

Crawl under the car and remove the flex plate inspection cover. Put a pair of vice grips on the flex to hold it. Turn engine to have vice grips stop on trans housing. Then take bolt off.

soory i just woke up lol... i meant the bolt that hold the sprocket and chain on. the engine is out of the car im in the mitz of a rebuild. ill try that idea thanks !!

If the heads are still on. Sometimes putting the plugs back in makes enough compression, but that bolt is pretty tight. The vice grips works everytime.

I've.....in case you have no flex on it.

I've.. put something in the valley to stop the balance shaft from spinning when you rotate the motor. That will also allow you to get the bolt off.
