L67 Swap-engine will not start

Swapped an L67 into my 98 Intrigue engine/trans are from an 04 Park Ave. Got a basically stock L67 tune from Overkill (I Tested PCM on another 98 Intrigue so I know it works. (Engine ran bad but it was an L36 so I was't surprised) Anyway I got everything hooked in the Swap Car and and the engine will not turn over. Whats happening is I turn the key to the run position it primes the fuel pump but will not turn over when I go to start the engine. I DID check the wiring to the starter and it was right. I also noticed that my headlights and wipers work, but NONE of the HVAC. I also noticed that the service vehicle soon (SES) light is not on which is alarming because I know for a fact that the ABS wires are broken. So I'm wondering could the ignition switch could be bad? Do I need to do a relearn or some special thing to make the PCM and BCM link? I have spent quite a bit of time researching my issues, but they are never really conclusive.
Let me know what you think, Thanks SC'd intrigue.

sounds like it needs a security learn. not sure how it goes for that car, but the regal is key to run for 10 minutes then off and back to run with in 10 seconds repeat 2 more times and they crank over the next time you crank it.

make sure you have a good battery or a charger on, e brake on to kill the lights so they dont come on, it takes a 1/2 hr to do.

i roll the windows down and walk away from the car, (i use a timer on my phone) you cant open the door or anything while you do this, so sit and wait, or do it through the window so your not trapped in the car.

I did a similar swap into an 04 monticarlo ls I had (hence 04lss)

bought an ECU off ebay, and the car wouldn't start same issue.

2 causes I see, one like scotty said do a security re learn for the ecu (has to do with number of key cycles etc) Google the process

two, the vin in the ECU is mismatching with the body control module. That's what happened to my car, had to take it to a local tuning shop and have them change the vin.

Hope it helps

That all makes sense about the security stuff which I will try. However the two cars are the same year and model (98). I didn't have to do that for my L36 to run and test the PCM when I thought it was bad because it would not run the L67 swapped Intrigue.

the pcm file has a os id # if its not the same as the one you had it needs a security learn.

all depends on how the file was made, irrc theres no sc intrigue factory files. if overkill just modded a l36 bin it should just fire up if the osid is the same.

there is one in bills drop box for a 98 too. he had to make it.

you have a tuner of your own? hp or dhp?

So why did the Tuned L67 PCM run my L36, but not in the other car that I actually swapped the engine? Also you are right they never made one. And no I don't have a tuner that is why I had my Overkill make me a tune.

two cars two different osid#'s is my guess.

unless you forgot some grounds or some thing.

if the security learn dont work try jumping the starter, see if it at least cranks with the starter. key to run it may even fire up while jumping it.

It just weird because that PCM was not originally from either car so neither OSID should match either cat. If it starts when I jump the starter with the key does that mean the ignition switch is bad?

somethings not right if it cranks and fires up when jumped.

you can also test the little wire on the starter stud for power when the key is to crank, 2 man job.

if you got power the starters not working. cause that little wire is the power that tells the starter to crank.

I have tested the starter so I know it works, and I have rotated the engine by hand so I know it isn't stuck or anything too. I will have to test that wire that is supposed to send the 12V when the key is turned to start though.

I have to clarify. I have a black intrigue it is still L36 and the one that I tried the L67 PCM in that ran that engine just to see if the PCM was functional. The White Intrigue, the one with the swapped L67 engine and now the L67 PCM is the one that will not crank or anything. Sorry about the mix up.

im sorta on board, why im thinking it more the car then the pcm.

if the security learn dont let it crank. im guessing this pcm was never used in this car at all?

Right. The PCM I got was just some random PCM that he took and put the tune on it was never from either car. So thats why it was weird that it worked on the Black L36 car, but not the White L67 car because It would only make sense that both cars required the same thing if they are the same year and model and both originally had the N/A l36. So that is why the relearn has me tripped up because if it was required neither car would have worked, but since I did not perform one on the Black L36 car and it ran it just doesn't sound like it could be the problem.

Honestly your problem sounds a lot easier than you guys are talking about

On the stud to the trans... main battery cable and two small grounds, make sure the wires didn't pull and break. Rest goes to the starter, if you need pics, holler.. Scotty will pull them out of Helpful pictures.

That's the #1 cause of swapped motor and no crank. Either that or ... what does the dash say the trans selector is? Because if you swapped an 04 trans into a 98 you are gonna have to either put the external pnp on it (search on my name and "eas y" without the space for that write up) or you gotta wire it into the internal pnp.

You know what.. second though...I bet that's the issue... and if you put the external on it w/o lining up that dot.. that's the issue.

Thank you...thank you.. lol (it's sad when I know one of those two is your answer w/o waiting)

I went an found the write up you did on this topic the picture i'm posting of the external switch that you are referring to is exactly what the original one looks like that was on my original 98 trans. When I swapped the new trans I used the original 98 one. So do I need to still do the splicing and stuff? None of the wiring was changed so i'm sorta unsure. I also tried rowing through the gears and it did not do anything. Also I should mention. The shifter is broken inside the car and I can row through the gears without turning the key on from off and I do not need to depress the button to shift either.

You need to line up that little itty bitty dot when the car is in neutral. If you don't get that lined up, the car will likely not start because isn't not seeing itself in N or P and ... you know how those safety things go. They'll stop you more often than help you. loll

It's in that thread. The dot is ... friggin tiny. With a good light and the Hubbell telescope you can barely see it.

Easy way to know for sure. Turn key to on, and row through the gears. Your dash being an intrigue is all digital. So if you don't see P or N light up where you were trying to start it..that's why.

If you want to test it.. put it on stands (front end) and row til you see P or N, hit the key to fire it..It'll start up in gear (why you want it off the ground)

Even with security issues, it will still crank, just wont get fuel to the injectors.

Did you check the starting system schematic ? I can email you the wiring schematics for both vehicles, just PM me.

My van swap needed a starter relay whereas the L67 had the starting system run through the steering column with thick power cables.
