l67 heads: what more to do? realistically

Ok so im still porting my heads. at the rate im going, i dont think i'll have the blower done by the time i need to get it all installed. Bill has suggested and i'm giving it real consideration to have a shop turn the valve guides so i can run a bigger cam down the road. and have the right install height when i run 105#'s with modded retainers.

extra's im thinking of are:
-having a basic valve job done.
-having the heads decked a bit. im guessing with me removing material from the chamber to port the heads and de-shroud the valves i lowered compression. and couldnt hurt to have a known true flat head

what more should i look into?

i'd really like to get it all done but it doesnt look like i'll have the heads ported to my level of satisfaction in time. also i need time to gasket match my IM and then port the blower.

if you deck the heads, dont do any noticeable value. just smooth them out and be done.

i agree about getting the guides milled down for a bigger cam later down the line. that way you're ready.

im already high compression i figure with a good fresh cut i might make up any compression i would have lost by porting the chamber

you'll run into head gasket problems if you deck them too much. just make sure they are flat and be done with it.
