• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

l26 UIM swap on a l36...

on a somewhat unrelated subject, does anyone have a link to any discussion about blocking off the egr and/or the pcv? I've heard references to both in various threads, enough that I'd like to hear more about the pros vs cons. I'm always interested in ways to remove **** from the engine so I dont have to worry about it in the future lol

The link referenced by The Guz is from a follow up post where I corrected a mistake in routing the vacuum for the PCV. I was following a post on a Bonneville forum that I will not link. I ended up following BillBoost37's method, which is why he mentioned it was the same. It was exactly the same. You do not need to use breathers anywhere. The drilling and tapping on the underside of the throttle body is to re-route the vacuum. Necessary because the L26 UIM does not include a passage for it. That's the pipe sticking out the top of the manifold. Here's the link to my swap with step by step photos of the entire process. http://www.grandprixforums.net/threads/72104-UIM-swap-L36-plastic-to-L26-alloy-questions Again, I was getting help from BillBoost37 when I did it. I also got a great piece of advise from Bio248, "I don't see a point in switching." He was kind enough to not say "I told you so" when I finally finished. It is a lot of work for no gain. But you'll probably do it anyway. I did. Good luck.

I know you keep saying its a pointless swap but you do realize its a pointless swap right? The L36 flows better and doesn't heat soak

I considered doing the same thing for my L36, but the $100 for a throttle body adapter alone deterred me quickly. Ended up plugging the coolant ports as Bill suggested, and car is happy as a clam.
