L26 questions.....

I have a 2007 gp with a L26. Was wondering if they are worth it to anyone to try to push 200(+) whp or not. I just want that little bit of extra for right now.

K so since its a L26 I should get L36 heads and a Gen V supercharger, or just get a turbo. But I have heard twice now that L26 pushrods love to bend. To solve this I wonder if there is a stronger pushrod. Here is a list of other mods that are planned;

ER rockers, plog, ported rear manifold, 2.5" down pipe, a tune and a FWI. I was goin to do the HV3 until I got the SC.

Best bang for your buck, is turbo to be honest. You can buy full kits or pick and choose which parts to complete your kit.

Save your pennies on modding that L26 and put them towards a turbo kit.

K so forced induction is out unless I can use different connecting rods. I don't think there are stronger ones for my engine out there. So ill get the most out my car buy just doing some basics then. I know there won't be much change but are ER rockers still a good option?

if you were gonna go through the trouble of fixing your connecting rods you might as well find an l67 and put it in there lol

cant find one with exact miles as my odometer and im not wanting to seperate my engine from my car. I want to keep the same block.

Will the HV3 work in the L26?

yes im running one with my l26 upper. They made one for the L26 but you can use the l36 one, it just needs a little filing to fit right.

The link matt posted is a very good read through.

You should do the HV3 with the turbo too. ER rockers are highest you can go on the l26, you can get more HP out of the GT2 cam, you can get around 200 whp with a good tune with the gt2 and hv3. If your going turbo then dont bother with headers just get the plog, youll want to use it with the turbo too.

I dont think im doing the turbo for a while because I have to figure out the connecting rod issue with the L26. Im just tryin to get an idea of what to get before I start ordering a whole lot of parts.

Buying the whole motor and putting a gen V on it would actually solve all your problems. if you can find a l32 for $500 or less go for it!

Not saying your guys arguement is invalid or trying to piss you off but a junkyard motor will never touch my car while I own it. I am willing to pay the price however expensive. I simply want to know what all will work, then decide from there which way to go.

Time to buy a nitrous kit. ;) all the other NA mods will help get you close, but N20 will get you where you want.

I like your avatar, old school Pontiac FTW!! On another note, hmmmmm nitrous sounds tasty but what are all of the cons? How close do you the think the supporting mods will get me?

I would like to see the dyno results of a L26 or L36 motor modded with the basics, (HV3, PLOG, er rockers, cai, 2.5" catted downpipe, tune)

Thanks, I would love to put an emblem like that on my car. The only con is filling up the bottle when its empty. Every car is different, but if I had to guess I would say if you were to cam/headers and do other various NA mods it would put you at 160ish whp.
