my engine started to knock after comming from work at first it was loosing power the rpms would go up and it would int advance at a stop the engine died I started and it kept knocking I check the oil because when I would press on the gas and on the dic it would read low oil pressure. I removed the belt and the knock its still there and the higher the rpm the louder it gets need help

Yeah that may be.

But you had said, the motor was knocking, it shut off on you. You cranked it over and it was still knocking. Low oil pressure light came on, took the belt off and still knocking. The higher the RPM's the louder the knock is.

All that leads me to say the motor is toast and it spun a bearing or two.

Time to look for a new used one.

I wouldnt.

Unless you have a way to tune everything. You'll need a computer and tuner to make the engine work with the transmssion.

Plus alot of other small thing.

Swap is not as simple as it sounds.

I'd just find another L26

I had rod knock on mine as well...actually a broken connecting rod. A spun bearing will require machine work. Probably not worth it. Check car-part.com for a used engine. I just picked up a used 2006 engine with 103K for $350 from a local salvage business.

would if it be cheaper if i only fix the bearings or is not worth it?

It would cost more to fix it. But you would need the crank polished smooth, rod cap too. Oversized bearing. Then the engine majorly flushed to get any tiny flakes out.

My old car I spun a bearing (mazda3) dropped the pan replaced all rod bearings and drove it for thousands of miles until I let it get taken away. It still knocked so I couldnt go over 3k and I ran that lucas slick50 or w/e that thick slimy crap is.

What year and model?

Louis, guess what?

Doesn't matter.

Anything from '95~ until 2009 works. Series II and III are virtually the same minus compression ratios.

This is the deal right here.

is there anywhere I could get my computer tuned for the motor swap because they said they had here on a local junk yard a engine of a 2006 grand prix gt supercharged and they with 79k miles and 3 months of warranty would let it go for 450 I would only need the fuel rails. and I think it would be a big upgrade and yeah rebuilding my engine ain't worth it
